Title: Colorful
Post by: RDFL on June 02, 2020, 04:09:02 PM
More of the set including the huge ass one that looks like it has pop up camper in it. He even did the side stands, I was going to look at the orange one and try to buy but never got chance to go there. I know I have pics of more of them somewhere. -- (https://i.imgur.com/5LjnF3k.jpg) -- (https://i.imgur.com/B56Wb6j.jpg) -- (https://i.imgur.com/3jpLzi9.jpg) -- (https://i.imgur.com/EApkU9O.jpg)

Carousel horses is how I described them in old forum thread. Would have been great way to display them make a big motorized turntable put them on like horses.

Pretty simply made rearsets on the big booty and Daytona.

WTH is the weird cylinder on the side of the cylinder of the Daytona? Is that the OG boost bottle?

These motorcycles are an example of what could happen if you smoke dope while building custom stuff. I just can't think of any other reason why someone would do those things to a motorcycle.

I'm not going to disagree that they are hideous, or even dumb in many ways. That doesn't stop me from enjoying them. And for the record my 350 is about as far away from this work as possible.

It's like Bosozoku, I don't pretend to understand it, but I can appreciate it in some ways.

Nice clean work but not my cup of tea.

I'm thinking more along the lines of paper tabs or caps.

What are y'all smoking, or is the coronavirus/looting/isolation/ 2020 mayhem coloring your vision?

I forget who built and who sold those bikes but they all feature some top of the line parts and modifications.

Admittedly, the color schemes and general styles are a little different to mine, but check out the Spec11 pipes and TZ fairings and tachos, and Vesco big butt seat and so on.  Amazing work. One had TR3/TZ350A pipes and TZ350C/D/E/ rear brakes. There were DG heads and swingarms and Rovberts/Carruthers machined fork legs and a ton of custom work.

The Daytona was broken down into bits and sold on ebay IIRC.  Not sure what happened to the others.

Judge not others, lest we be judged or something like that.

Yup, lots of trick parts. But that doesn't make them look any better though.

to me, they really have no serious lineage of the builder. . id strip em and make some nice classic bikes/ specials out of them remove all the cartoon shit and hokey brackets.  they can all be turned onto legit nice looking/performeing bikes with all the good stuff on there. but his taste in asthetics suuuuucked. I'd rip em apart without hesitation.  :twocents:

Yeah.  Those things are horrible.  Clearly the product of late '70s - early '80s South Florida drug money (not that there's anything wrong with that).  Commissioned by some dipshit with way too much disposable income, and some lucky bastard given a ton of cash who got to look through every motorcycle magazine and mail order catalog at the time (and there were a lot back then) and order every part and gadget he wanted and just bolted it all together and had had some custom paint work done.  Drill some holes with a hole saw and cut some flat plate for the pegs and fender.  No real 'craftsmanship' to be seen on any of them.

Something tells me a least the first one just gets pushed around and not ridden. How are you supposed to get your foot under the shift lever?

I noticed that too, maybe it was in the circus and a giant footed clown rode it.
