With LED auxilliary lights, you can have ridiculously bright light on an RD with VAPE.
PIAA have some really good looking round lights, and DENALI are very popular as well.

In fact, I am looking into modifying an FJ600 half fairing for my XS650, into sort of a classic Bol'd Or look, using a pair  of 5" PIAA led driving lights. I just need to find a super small low beam light first.

Those PIAA lights are here: http://www.piaa.com/store/p/642-LP550-5-LED-Driving-Light-Kit-SAE-Compliant.aspx
Just check out the classic look, with the rock guards removed. Much, much nicer looking than the common "insect eye" look of the more common led array type lights. PIAA also have both larger and smaller diameter versions of these lights.
