In 72 Yamaha used a pearl mettalic "Mandarin Orange " on the AT1
I found this paint and wondered if it is the same for the 72 R5.
This vendor is really not that bad price wise from what I found from local auto paint houses.
When you select the part you are directed to a page to choose which "kit" you want. The full kit is $233 which includes primer, base, mid and clear.
The only other item I will need is the black for striping which would be a bit more.

Wow, nice selection of Yamaha colors! I'm not trying to match existing paint, but I may use their Competition Yellow when I get to that stage.

Scott, the 1972 AT model is actually the "AT2" (although the serial numbers are AT1-xxxxxx), and yes it is the same orange as the R5 of that year. See the Yamaha Tech Bulletin # 283 in the Tech Library for the paint assignments. The R5C, AT2, AT2-M, IT2, & U7E all shared Mandarin Orange "0071 MO" that year. :twocents:
Thanks for posting about VMR. Looks like a good resource, bookmarked it
