I also have a number for a guy with an rd200 that would go cheap. It will prob get taken to MidO and sold unless one of us knuckleheads gets to it first.

Despite not having space, if anybody really needs these bikes, I have plenty of room on the front porch:)

Dunno but pic attached.  Supposedly has paper, lectric start, did see a vid of it running, barely. Also was supposedly buried but that was a month ago, he did say it was going to mido since he'd found another project.

Neighbor that only has one bike said I should go get them both, he did not offer garage space however.

Think the 200 was around $500 ask

200 actually sold this past weekend, just talked to the guy.  Apologies for the false alarm.  Hopefully it went to a good home, it was a fair amount of work

Are the 200 Electric Start bikes worth the effort?
What is good pricing for a decent one?
Is the electric start prone to failures, so pass on them?

As, do people seek them out, like other RD's?
What about as a Sunday Driver for investment?

Ahh got it. By the looks of it I was wondering if 'buried' might have been literal :dawg:

From what I've seen the electric starter is very reliable. It does take some very infrequent maintenance to keep it operating properly. If you know how to adjust ignition points and change brushes it's a piece of cake.
Not a big investment bike, they aren't nearly as popular as the 350 or 400. You can find a nice one for $2500-$4000. Most have fairly low miles because they just didn't get used much back in the day. The '75 B-model is the most common one out there. The '76 C-model is more desirable as it came with the 1-year-only front disc brake. Not many of those around and you rarely see them for sale. Only about 2K made based on Yamaha info I have.

IIRC when I looked into it, the e start worked on the generator somehow so it didnt actually have a separate starter. Kinda cool I thought but I dont mind kicking them.  Its seems like they dont come up too often but arent all that expensive either.

The 350 is in my driveway, its rough but its there, it could use to get rained on a bit, pretty solid ant infestation. Dude claims that the neigbor had a pile of scrap and it was in it so he pulled it.  I might just Ospho it to death and run it if it noone needs it.  I dont mind looks terrible, runs great:)

Picked up the roller for the dt100 swap that was aborted so that can go back together.

Finally, and definately belonging in the blasphemy category, I got to drive a good running Thing around town.  It was interesting, you are very much "motoring"

Oh, if the guy that was calling him wanting it shipped to daytona is on here, I'm not likely to do much with it until next year and I do know of at least one set of bikes headed to Orlando from up here and they may have room.

Dt100 could go too, in boxes RN but we ran the engine and had a look inside before we took it apart, wheels and frame in suprisingly good condition and I'd say 95% of what it needs to run is there, maybe 98%.  $500 will do it, could bring to pgh this wknd for someone on here.

I didn't know much about the 200's when I got my 76, I got it because my wife wanted electric start lol.

Only later I saw in SoCal250's production data that the 76 200 is likely the lowest production of any US imported RD's at 2000 units based on serial numbers (not sure about 500's actually).

I've had this pretty original 76 for about 7 years., serial number 877. It has only needed routine maintenance like air filters and batteries.  I've never had the carbs off but heard they are challenging to get parts for.  Electric start always works if battery is good.

The only non stock things I've found on this bike is fork gators, black painted tail light, and Uni filters in the stock boxes.  Paint and chrome are good, not perfect but original.  The right side cover had to have a crack glued, in the years I've been looking I've never seen a 76 cover for sale.  1 year only French Blue, would match a 400 in the garage nicely.

At this point it has about 4300 miles, I got it at 3700 so I've got 'some' seat time on it.  I wrung it out pretty good at the Gap this year...

The CL bike has been sold based on clicking on the provided link. Nice deal! Hope someone here scored it.

Ed's bikes are both super nice and clean. Love your parking spots at Fontana!!
