Title: Suzuki TS 400
Post by: Rgvnfla on January 27, 2024, 06:18:34 PM
I'm at the final stage of rebuilding the TS400 engine and can't pass the leak down test. It's leaking past the threads of the decompressor. Any suggestions as to what I should use to seal them?

Teflon tape?

I tried some , may have not put enough on. Being it's not pipe thread it pretty much just pushed it back.Seems to me the I can't be the only one to run into this even though it is a two year only bike.

Isn't there some kinda liquid paste on the threads alternative to teflon tape?...or maybe some of that Yamabond gasket sealer applied to the threads?  :umm:

With Teflon tape you need about 4 revolutions of tape. I'd use thread sealer though. There's also a high-temp version

I bought some Loctite 567, going to give that a try. I'll update with results. Thanks for the replies,Sean

Maybe it's leaking internally, through the piston that slides back when you pull the lever...like a bad seal in a choke valve.
If it's not internal, possibly use a copper washer like used on brake lines or bottoms of fork tubes.
