Title: broken kickstand mount
Post by: gargantua350 on January 25, 2026, 09:00:35 PM
Hello

I have a broken kickstand mount that has been re-welded several times.  The finally tab broke off completely and I would like to re-weld forward on the bottom frame tube since I have spec 2 chambers.  Have you guys used aftermarket kickstand tabs or used the stock one and just relocated?

thanks for the help

I also had a broken kickstand bracket on my RD350. I ended up making a reinforcement bracket, that tied to both the bottom AND top plate of the frame crossmember. It is now rock solid 😀

If you're gonna relocate, fab one up to mimic what the HVC adapter manages to do and lets the bike be more upright when on the stand...

if you're going to have to weld, just relocate it. we did this on msrs 400 and there's pics in the thread where it is

I have the relocation kit flange if you need it to weld on.

I watched the master of kickstand location (Robakun) do a few back in the day at some USA 2Strokers wrench fests. :science: He just cut, repositioned and welded using the original tab.

I was under the impression that is how everybody did them.

I did the HVC relo kit years ago, and I just found some pictures.
I had to have the spring hook rotated 180, and put a rubber washer on the stand where it comes up close to the pipes.  Recommended.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.  Just a heads up I found a bolt on frame solution.  a company called baxter cycles sell some for old triumphs and nortons.  I got the one for the 1" down tube.  I went on no problem but I feel I need to grind down some as the workmanship is borderline.  For now this will do.  I will post pictures soon

thx

There was a guy in the UK that sold LC kickstand mounts that looked the same as Rd ones
