Title: New to me 1994 Honda RS125 NF4
Post by: so-cal-sdr200 on October 07, 2026, 11:02:55 AM
Just won an Iconic auction for a bike I've admired for years.
I didn't really intend to win the auction. Tossed a bid out there
to see if others would bid it up to what I estimated of the bikes value.
Got it for, what I thought was a very good price.

So. Asking the forum if they have any experience or knowledge of the
Honda RS125 GP bike (s). The person I got it from never did ride it.
He had very little information from the previous owner (s).
How many hours on the piston, crank, rings etc.....

It came with a few spares. Gaskets, sprockets, CDI, Tach, crank. Don't
know if it is new or used.
I've been looking to gather as many spare parts as I can  find.
Would be nice to have enough to do a complete engine rebuild.

Having trouble finding sources for new engine components.
I've been looking at RSCycles, and Accu-Products. Mostly trying
to stay inside the USA for parts.
Really looking for Piston kits, Base gaskets, Head O-rings. Main bearings
 and main crank seals. etc...
I was lucky enough to find an owners manual and parts list manual for the
1992-1993 NF4. Pretty sure the 1994 is exactly the same.

Let me know if you can help.
I can post more pictures if anyone is interested.
 Cheers, Jeff

Very cool little track bike!

First time I saw one I was surprised just how small they are.

Are you near the Apex kart track?

Is it running?

Post some more pictures of it.

EDIT:  Are you riding a Derbi in your Avatar?  The pic looks familiar.

The Avatar is an 1988 SDR200.
You likely saw it at one of the 2 Stroke Extravaganza shows.
This picture is the RS125 next to the SDR.
The SDR is small, the RS looks tiny next to it.
The RS is supposed to be 160# and 40HP?!?!?
The SDR is a little over 200# and 33HP?!?!?

My bucket list of dream bikes is growing.
 Cheers, Jeff

Very nice acquisition! I've seen a few of those 125s pop up from time to time on the WERA 13x forum. You could try there in the 2-stroke section for answers to your questions, sourcing parts, etc.

BTW, your SDR is on my wish-list  :olaf:

Thanks. I have been a lurker on the 13X WERA forum for years.
There are some very smart & funny folks on there.
I need to join the group.

I am in So Cal, but, not near any race tracks. Closest would be
Streets of Willow, if it's still open. And maybe Grange.
ButtonWillow and Chuckwalla are at least 3 hours away.
I assume Apex would be too tight of a track to really open up
the RS125. Since it is mostly a Kart and SuperMoto track.

The RS is running. At least in the auction video from Iconic.
It certainly has been raced in it's past. Although I do not
think so since someone fitted the SharkSkinz body work and new paint.
Whoever owned it took really good care of it. The safety wiring
is a work of art. I changed the gear oil and it looked brand new.

In the spares it came with another carb, 4-5 slides. 12 or more
  needles and 10-15 main jets.

Without removing the top end to check. I am leaning towards the engine
being a fresh rebuild. Maybe only a couple thermal cycles.
The slicks are from 2022 and show some gum balls. Whoever rode it had some
 skills.

Thanks folks for looking at my new toy.
 Jeff

Apex would be fine for the RS.

Guys run 400 Ninjas at Apex.

My son runs a KTM450 Supermoto and a YZ65 there all the time.
