Title: Blueprint your own top end
Post by: John Ritter on July 25, 2019, 12:08:40 PM
UPDATE....
We did 3 top ends, all took 2 days. 1st was a board members R5, 2nd was a RD400 minus reed valve mods or we would have been to the 3rd day and screwed up the scheduled day of riding and 3rd was a 1975 DT250. Both the RD guy and DT guy race motocross with Yamaha engines I've been doing for years for them and know each other well. We scheduled a ride day with one guy staying the 3rd day and the other guy came in a day early. So the local back roads had my RD250, a CT3 and a basket case RD350 enjoying the day.
Sometime after the start of 2020 I might do it again if there is any interest. I'll post here if I do it again.

THIS APPLIES TO STOCK RD CYLINDERS/HEADS/REED CAGES
If parts have been previously modified we won't be able to use them, any doubts you can email me pics so your trip is not wasted.

Okay, retirement is a great thing unless you miss doing what you love. So, at no charge to you I will direct you as you Blueprint your own top end in my shop. I have the proper porting and machining equipment and more. Past experience has shown that it ends up taking guys 2 days (it is a 2.5 to 3 hour job typically). There are motels, campgrounds and lots of food places close by.

This is not a Stage 1 port job, this is a Clean & Match, most often referred to as blueprinting. We will discuss a lot of porting info and show you some basic computer programs, show you how to layout the ports etc.  Your completed job will have a performance bump and in some cases end as strong as some shops Stage 1.

Your CLEAN parts are all we need, bring your Top Case if you want. Do not bring the bike you are working on, just the parts. BUT if you have another RD or 2 stroker that is street legal we can catch a couple of the local roads after work. You will be standing most of the time, not sitting very much.

IF YOU SHOW UP WITH DIRTY PARTS YOU WILL SIT AND WATCH ME CLEAN PARTS AT $85.00 AN HOUR PLUS MATERIALS AND WHEN CLEANING PARTS I AM THE SLOWEST S.O.B. YOU EVER LAID EYES ON --- GET THE POINT???. NO DIRTY PARTS OR BRING A FAT WALLET.

If you think this is something that interests you send me a message with your phone number, I hate typing so questions by phone only please. John Ritter

That's an insane offer!! I'm VERY good, John is VERY VERY VERY good! A good portion of why my Landspeed 250 is so fast is our longggg conversations we have about it (Credit where credits due..). He's a good friend, a good man, and a GREAT Tuner.

WOW ED ....... Checks in the mail

Ok, I have 2 guys scheduled so that's enough for awhile. I will repost at a later date when I offer it again.

Mark one of the guys is from a message sent through the board and another read it and called me direct so its good to see the board helping the guys out. JR

Greg, was offline awhile, back now. Like I told you, porting seems to be a talent you could develop quickly, you grasp it with better understanding than most. JR
