Title: Honda - Repsol split
Post by: DesmoDrew on February 04, 2020, 08:00:30 AM
Rumors say Honda and Repsol will split at the end of 2020.  Marquez contract up at the end of 2020.  Common knowledge that Marquez is more linked to Repsol (a sponsor of his since he was a kid) than he is to Honda itself.  Hard to think that Repsol would abandon MotoGP.  And if you, as a fan, did not Know that Ducati is sponsored by Marlboro tobacco, you would Not know since there is not any Marlboro (or any tobacco) signage allowed in MotoGP.
So.....maybe Ducati drops Marlboro and picks up Repsol?  Maybe Marquez follows Repsol rather than Honda? Maybe GiGi Dall'Igna gets his wish to get Marquez on his Ducati in 2021?

I heard about the potential split at the end of this season. It will be interesting to see what happens. I'm betting that Red Bull will step in. They're already a secondary sponsor of the Honda team

not a huge fan but his skills are just undeniable

wow, MM on the ducati rocket
that would be some kinda show, either win by huge (record setting) margin or a spectacular crash out

then again it might not be the right bike for him, some bikes and riders will just never mesh

as far as talent, Fabio sure showed some skills last season
pretty sure Yam was able to keep him, its unfortunite that M bike seems about 10HP off and he had to ride all the rubber off it to contend like he did

any info from testing about Yamaha's bike?

The Sepang tests just concluded. Yamaha was very competitive. The team is saying that they have made some improvements, but they're still looking for more. They've added a hole-shot device for this season. Quartarao was very fast on both the standard M1 and the Factory-spec M1 which he rode day 2 & 3. MM93 is riding hurt after his off season shoulder surgery so he's not 100%. If the test times are an indication of the coming season it's going to be a good one. All the riders were very close time-wise. We'll get more info in a couple weeks when they run the Losail testing.

Fabio will be on the Factory team in 2021, taking Rossi's seat.  http://www.2strokeworld.net/forum/index.php?topic=925.msg12316#msg12316
