Post by: triple1972 on February 23, 2020, 09:28:29 PM
Hi  Any input on what brand and supplier of RD400 race tires. I am on the east coast which may not matter. USCRA so they must have tread. Thank You.

18" race tires are out there- the sizes are the issue.
would ask other racers what they like.

Look up tire size
90/90/18 front [110] will fit
110/90/18 rear [120] will fit

Bridgestone, Avon etc.

You did have to ask while I was at the AHRMA vintage races this weekend at Roebling Road Raceway!
If on close to stock rim sizes go with the Conti 3's
100/90 front and 110/80 on the rear. The supplier Eric is in Daytona, Fl.
Not cheap, but so is rebuilding your race bike again after to didn't have a good race tire!! :eek:

I think 100/90 for front is a bit "oversize"

front: 90/90 R18  -> Conti ClassicAttack   -   rear: 110/90 R18  -> Conti ClassicAttack

Sorry but the Continental site wasn't very helpful to me any prices or nearby dealers! Maybe my fault. The Avon's seem to be the popular among RD racers.

 Many of the Vintage RR light weight guys use Avons.  90/90 fronts and 110/80 rears are the preferred sized and while they are expensive they last a long time on light weight machines.  They are great both in the wet and dry.  I sell them.  lyn Garland, vintspclty@aol.com.

PS:  We race on them too...
