Looks like either a Kaw Spectre or Yamaha Maxim fuel tank. Low miles!

Sure looks goofy

He's also selling a GPz750 Turbo with a similar story of how he acquired it. If true, I wonder how he found out about the bikes since they would have been in Foothill Ranch in So OC, and he's in Mass. I was in the HQ in Irvine before it was moved a few miles to the current location. They had a small private museum inside that was amazing, but I didn't see any "partial" bikes, they were all mint and historically significant.
