After reading all I could find on the mod..
Is it really needed or helpful on a mostly stock R5 with slightly ported barrels?

dave f mod is basically turning Rd carbs into R5 carbs. so.. if you have stock r5 carbs.. its already done for the most part. ;)

Yea the R5 carb is primary needle jet already right?

yes. and 2.0mm 'air jet' orifice.

John Ritter told me I should put velocity plates in my carbs..
I understand the theory but never have had any experience in doing this.
