1979 Yamaha RD-400 Daytona Special - $5,900 (Artesia)
1979 Yamaha RD 400 Daytona Special, rare two stoke engine motorcycle, electronic ignition, new battery and carbs were just cleaned and tuned, pre-mix, not oil injected. I stored the motorcycle for many years and the right front faring is broken and gas tank has a dent near the filler cap from a item falling on it in my garage. Also during the time it was stored, the battery leaked an corroded the paint on the right side of the frame. The motorcycle has a clean title and is currently registered. Tires have tread but are old since the motorcycle was stored for many years. I have too many activities and just don't ride it enough to justify keeping the motorcycle any longer.
Needs a little more green.
I wonder what the person was thinking when they decided to paint it that hideous green. :umm:
I wonder if he had matching leathers and helmet complete with green tinted face shield.
Better name for it ribbit.
Gross. A Yamaha with too much Kawasaki lime green.
With that much green, he should have carried it onto the seat, shocks, engine, and pipes. :dawg: Has me flashing back to an RZ I saw for sale many years ago that HAD the FULL theme going on.
The listing was only up 2 days. Maybe it sold?

Yes, the ALL yellow RZ. :righteous:
C'mon, guys, be nice. It's not easy being green.

Same bike is for sale again, and now a lot more expensive (probably a flipper).
How can you ask $9500 for a bike that "needs a little bit of work"? :umm:

79 Daytona special - $9,500 (SF VALLEY)
yamaha rd400 79
It has original heads
Daytona special.
Come see it
Clean title in hand.
Very rare and hard to find.
Need a little bit of work.
All green
17000 miles
Sorry to say but to my eye, just as UGLY. Who the F would paint that green? I love the stock colors of a Daytona. Always have from the time there was one at my local motorcycle shop in CA 1979.
Don't know how he miss the Chain Cover
Relisted again. This time it says it needs engine work. Yet he still wants $8500 for it.
And the mileage went from 17K to 11K :umm:
"NEEDS TO FINISH TOP END ASSEMBLY SO IT DOES NOT RUN.
DOES NOT HAVE ENOUGH COMPRESSION TO START SO I GOT THE PARTS FOF THE FRESH TOP END."
"VERY FIRM ON THE PRICE"
https://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/mcy/d/los-angeles-yamaha-rd400-daytona/7351182397.html
by the time the crank breaks it will be at 10k.
Even the side stand!!!
He must be basing the price off the $600 side covers and $80 bent brake levers on ebay
He'd have better luck selling if he just shot it with grey primer
Seems he had the engine work done. However the price went up $3K to $11,500, and another 1K miles disappeared

"JUST FINISHED INSTALLING NEW TOP END WITH WEISACO PISTONS AND RINGS.
CARBS ADJUSTED TOO.
HAS GREAT COMPRESSION"
"VERY FAST. FASTER THEN ALL RD400 OUT THERE." :blah:

Don't know how he miss the Chain Cover
Or the rear springs
I LOVE WISEACO PISTONS! SO FAST. :busey:
I think that ad killed a few brain cells.
Will someone please buy this green monster! He has it on Offer up and I get updates on it every day!
It's driving me crazy!🤣
Now it's in Sherman Oaks :azn: mileage dropped again from 10,050 to 10,000. And I guess because it has lower mileage now, the price has dropped accordingly from $11,500 to $10,750. Soon it will be one of those 1-mile Daytonas that used to pop up every few months about 8-10 yrs ago.

I like how he describes it as a "2STROK SURVIVOR" :dawg: the definition of 'a survivor' must really have changed
And remember, it's a "SOLID INVESTMENT THAT CAN ONLY GO UP FROM HERE. :bs:
This bike keeps coming up. I keep looking.
It never gets less green.
Some people just can't resist free paint.
It's free because IT'S UGLY!
-$2k on the price for that reason. It's like a yellow Jeep.
IR8D8R
it may have survived but the equality of life is LOW
Still for sale more than 2 years later, but the price has been lowered to $8K

I don't think he understands what a survivor is
Kermit called and said he wants his survivor Daytona Special back. :omg:
Can you just imagine what this seller is like in person? :dead: Would love to hear his ramble and bet he is a great BSer. That color does NOT belong on this bike! :taz: :rant-1:
$9995, car dealer for sure!
Don't have it in me to take it a part and do something ......
