Title: First test ride
Post by: paul1478 on November 25, 2021, 07:36:35 AM
I have. Wanted a Ducati for a long time. 3 weeks ago over breakfast my wife said go get one. Just sell a bike. After thinking or over for a week I called the dealership. They did not have the bike I wanted. Q1 maybe come put a deposit and get in line. Same within 500 miles.
Ok so be it. Not surprised with the state of affairs lately.
I was in Detroit for work Friday after stoping by the job site i was going to at the next day and I  passed right by Ducati of Detroit.
U turn. I had not been to a dealership yet.
They not only had the V2 I was looking for but had another one for test rides and asked me to test ride it. Bad idea. I had not ridden a modern sports bike ever. As expected loved it.
I put a deposit to hold it until that Tuesday so I can take some time to think clearly (ok and be sure my wife was not going to kick me out of the house) Lot of money for a toy. But I did it. They are preparing it. It was just out of box. They are going to add an aftermarket exhaust air filter and dyno tune it to un-euro 5 it.

Congrats Paul! Those Ducati's are so beautiful!  You are also young enough and in good health for the ergos and the riding experience/ enjoyment. I hope the RD isn't the bike leaving....

Happy Thanksgiving!   :patriot:

Thanks Evans.
No way. I would rather not get the bike then let my RD go.
Rode it yesterday in fact.
KLR is going. I don't ride it much and hope to goes to a good home.
The wife tried to get me to sell the FJ also but it had no value really and impossible to replace with as nice of one.

u'll love it, i miss my duck, not as much as the agusta but it was great bike.
i maybe wrong, but if you plan on any aftermarket pipes etc, you have a limited source in order to reflash the ecu. i learned the hard way on my bmw..

I was looking at the flashes. I am not very knowledgeable, I have not owned a modern bike until this one.
Ducati of Detroit seems to be big into racing and track day bikes. They have a dyno. They are going to put the new exhaust on and tune on there dyno. not race but better delivery and remove most of the lean areas they have for the new regulations.

I am going back up to Detroit Friday for work again and plan on stopping by to say hello to my new bike. It may not be done but I am sure it will be ready to ride even if just in stock form.

What size Panigale is that? 955? Do they use chains or belts? I don't keep up with anything after my desmocedici.

I honestly do not know. I am leaving in the morning back to Detroit for work and plan on stopping by to visit it. I will ask.
I did not ask many questions about maintenance price. I knew better. It will not be my daily rider. But will not just sit.

No bikes should sit if you ask me. if they do set them free... to be ridden by someone else.
in fact JUST sold me KLR to a nice guy who loved it. It can get some needed use now.

I joined the Ducati club this year as well, had been eyeing them for a while and the right deal came around.  Dirtbike market was so crazy this year that I was able to sell my 06 WR450 and buy a 2014 HyperStrada for the same price.  The maintenance schedule is not great but it definitely feels and sounds unlike any other bikes that I have owned.  Has been a good decision so far, I am sure you will enjoy!

No test ride.
But I don't think I need one one to know how it's going to compress time and space.

Now that is quite the space time transporter

My Decati arrived Dec 26. 550 miles of fun then it started to cut out and run on 1 cylinder when warm and not always.
I took it to a local dealer and was told they would not even look at it until the non Ducati authorized accessories were removed (Arrow exhaust and power commander with tune from a dyno run).
WFT?
I removed the power commander and it is good now. Somehow it was causing an issue. I sent it back to Ducati of Detroit the checked it, all good... yea, OK. they are getting a new one and putting the tune into the new one. Then I get the pleasure of pulling this thing back apart and putting it back in and hoping it works.
It is a hell of a bike.

Paul awesome bike , it's fun getting a new one after not buying a new one for ages.  Looks great , bummer on the power commander, but at least the dealer did not leave ya out to dry.

My very first new bike and only modern one I have ever ridden.
yep, dealer was great. no fight at all. they offered my money back even.

I did get a flash from Brent tuning, that worked.
bike is in the shop for a month now, wheel sensor. Arriving this coming Saturday I assume from the dark side of the moon?. A month for a wheel sensor? Only on a motorcycle would we ever put up with this BS. If my Nissan has a bad wheel sensor and it took over 24 hrs I would not stand for it.
