Title: MC rearsets
Post by: triple1972 on January 01, 2022, 06:28:05 PM
Hello. How much should I expect to pay for a new set of MC rearsets for 79' Daytona? I posted this in the for sale category. My mistake.

Hey Michael,

I'd say they're worth about $275-$375. The version would affect that a little, as there were 3 over the years.  A big negative about the MC 400F rearsets is the mounting brackets (plates). They are horrendously crude and appear to have been made in someones garage using aluminum plate stock, a drill, and jigsaw. That said, they do fit the Daytona which most other available brands do not (the exception being the 202 Racing kit).

As I recall, Doug was selling the last of his v3 400F rearsets in early 2012 for about $325 on a Spring Sale 'closeout'. When the shop closed they were selling for about $359.

(Full disclosure: I have 1 set of Moto Carrera v3 400F currently mounted on my Daytona. at least 2 sets of early version RD400C-E rearsets, and a set for the RD250/350.)

Found this in my files. Compare the workmanship and engineering of the brackets between the "405" Daytona brackets with the"350/401" RD350/400

Looks like the results of a learning curve!

Except the Daytona kit came out many years after the standard RD kit...so they are regressing not learning

id contact makr (mark) about getting some made. I'll never run MC rearrests again. IMHO they are SO bad, i made my own after dealing with them for a few years. I know they were the standard for along time, but that time has gone.

That's exactly the thought I had after looking at my rearsets over the weekend, and then seeing the posts about your newly acquired bits.
