Happy B-day King Kenny :toot:
King Kenny Roberts Gets A Special Gift for His 70th Birthday (https://www.roadracingworld.com/news/king-kenny-roberts-receives-special-gift-for-70th-birthday/)
thought his birthday was new year's eve? born 1951, making him 70 the other day. but don't quote me on it :Clown:
cheers, gil.
I have nothing but wonder and respect for King Kenny but I struggle to warm up to that classic Yamaha racing graphics/color scheme. It's all good though. At the age of 47 I wish I have the life he has, my first world problems aren't as blessed as his. LOL  He looks like he's thinking where he can fit a cruise in that rig in his schedule.
Oh man, I love that bumble bee paint scheme. It's a classic I wouldn't be ashamed to date in public.
I know design and graphics wise it's on point, I just struggle with the color yellow.
I've always loved that color scheme since it came out in the 70's. I even treated my FZR400 to a makeover last year.
Oh. Yes.
If you don't appreciate (and almost worship) the "Molly" Yamaha speedblock design you may have to turn in your Yamaha fan club membership card.
(Or maybe you're just a Honda fan  )
Trivia: Rollin "Molly" Sanders not only designed the Yamaha speed block graphics, but he also came up with Kawasaki green and the new Yamaha blue being used today. :twocents:

Molly also was instrumental in the development of the first Buick Grand National concept car and the Turbo 6 emblem used at Buick. Additionally, he came up with the Lexus emblem also. I know a really good friend of his who verified all of this. I also read that he basically used an AMC green (Big Bad Green?) for Kawasaki racing green. Here is a pic of Molly a few years before he passed.

True, he is revered by Grand National owners.
I recall when he passed away. In fact I posted his obit on the old site. He lived only a few miles from me, but unfortunately I never got the opportunity to meet him.
Our American Hero of the 70's and 80's.
My problem isn't the paint scheme; it's with a grown man, especially KR, wearing Crocs!
I went to Daytona 1984 and Freddy couldn't keep up.

My dad was good friends with Molly, he painted a helmet for my dad for his birthday, that I still have. I hung out as a kid in his shops Lahabra. Molly designed Yamaha , Kawasaki green , and went on to Nissan and Lexis. He would paint the kids bikes with left over paint. Good guy !

What an amazing story. I would love to see that helmet, if you're ever willing to share.
Love the paint scheme.
