I have no advice on the subject but I might offer a point of interest. I was listening to the cycle world podcast and they were discussing how the Kawasaki triples handled like they were hinged in the middle. Kevin Cameron said that it was common to find no oil in one or both of the shocks right from the factory and simply upgrading the rear shocks would solve a lot of the issues. I can't imagine Yamaha and Suzuki used better quality shocks.

I was told by another hobbiest that you know when you restored a "whatever" correctly because you have way more into it than you can sell it for. My biggest concern about the vape is reliability. I can't stand the thought of wasting another dollar on stuff that doesn't work. Vape and zeeltronics it is.

I just had this conversation with the guy I was going to buy the stator from. I was into vintage snowmobiles and the n.o.s. parts are all but useless because the plastic and rubber is 40+ years old. the first time you use a brake handle it snaps because its degraded and the used stuff is also junk for the same reason. I fear this is the thing thats going to kill vintage power sports.

Thank you guys for the help! This is a new hobby for me and it's not exactly going as planned.I wish I had more knowledge of resources and experience building bikes.

I need to an ignition for my bike and I was in the mindset of used O.E.M is better than aftermarket.
I've tried/bought a half dozen used stators, Almost as many used flywheels,a wiring harness,a coil and a cdi box all were/are no good.
My current state is I have a new harness,a zeeltronics 10T cdi and an ebay Banshee flywheel that someone told me would work. My new mindset is no one sells usable Rz parts and how much worse can an aftermarket ignition be? I would still like to have stock components and I might have my stator rewound but then I need a good flywheel etc. My other option is to get vapor, zeeltronics components for $900+. Can you guys give me a little guideance and share your experiences with aftermarket stuff or if anyone has sanely priced good usable parts.

If anyone is willing to share it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I'm jealous! It's so cold here I can't get myself to turn on the heat in the garage. I'm glad to see others getting to ride this time of year though. It looks like nice riding there.

M in sc thank you for sharing that knowledge. From what I understand you can put Banshee cylinders on an RZ base but not vice versa. Something about water pumps or water passages. Sadly that's all I have to offer.

Quote from: So-Tex on January 05, 2025, 09:12:14 AMI go to yamahapartshouse.com and look up the respective part numbers for each model and see if they match. A perfect match means they obviously interchange. A different part number does not necessarily mean its a "NO-GO" just need to do more research to confirm or deny fitment. On some models you must change an interworking group of parts to gain compatibility/interchangeability.

Thanks for the info! I was on revzilla and I tried just that. The complete banshee and RZ cranks have different part numbers but all the indiviual crank components are the same. I chocked the technic up as unreliable. After that I didn't bother to try other part comparisons

Does anyone know of a resource for parts interchangeability of these or any combination of these bikes? I was going to just ask if a banshee flywheel would work on an RZ350 but if there's a resource for this stuff it would be incredibly helpful.

Nice work! I have no skills but I'm fascinated with the whole trade. To build something that actually runs must be super rewarding.  :metal:

You do really nice work! Bicycles are hard to do.

That's cool, Did you build that from scratch?
