I did the SV coil conversion with new plug ends. trying to get a better spark. when I save up enough $ I am doing the electronic conversion. The other rd I bought has the points conversion ( did not know till I got it home and inspected)and has a real good spark. In the meantime I think I will replace the brushes and clean the surface and see if that helps?

I have about the same problem ( pitted tubes) . I don't think mine are going to clean up that good, and right seal is leaking now that I have it moving under own power. I saw where during a rebuild ( youtube) that theirs were turned down in a lath. wonder how much you can get by with? from what I see new tubes are pricey.

update ; so I pulled my m/c ( I thinks it from a rd 400 , squarish  top tapers down some on the other side)  apart and put it in my ultrasonic cleaner. just put it back together and have fluid flow . the old rubber line is crap tho. replacement on the way. gonna pull the caliper today ( when it warms up , Fl. and our bipolar weather    ).

I use copper spray on alot of gaskets my self. from my many years drag racing, carb base gaskets, rear end cover plates , header gaskets etc. stuff that comes apart alot. have used chapstick on carb base gaskets when tuning at the track tho. I tried this on my RD carb gaskets ( chapstick) because those  jokers come of and on so often in this project. my2ct
