i always loved the idea of a dry clutch, it looks great
but i would like to have the oil pump enclosed/covered

I have some ideas but none of the available side covers offer a pump cover. I don't think any have provisions for the oil pump at all. It took a bit of work to get this one going.

That dry clutch looks really sexy.  Every so often I think about modifying a spare TZ primary cover to take a kickstarter and then I remember that I would need a longer clutch shaft plus a set of straight cut gears and a complete TZ clutch and the only ones I have are for the TZ.  It seemed like such a neat idea until I started to think about the cost.

So I will fit a Banshee lockup clutch with straight cut primary gears and a Banshee side cover instead.  Of course that also needed a modified Banshee kick starter shaft, but that was cheap enough.

Not a cheap endeavor that's for sure. The noise isn't for everyone either. It's not just the clutch rattle, those straight cut gears are noisy as hell.  😂

A short video while it still had the bad center hub. Hopefully I'll get it back together this week.

The one I used is cast, somewhat like the original. I'm sure you could scrounge around and get it done for the 1500-1800 range. I bought an expensive billet basket and inner hub so I blew by that estimate. Probably $2500 ish in mine.

How do I post video's on this site?

You know what, I contacted Vince at Fondseca and said make me a kit with everything I need. I took the easy way out for once.
Any rough cost estimate? I guess it was a TZ cover and afternarket clutch?

Hey Dave,
I would like to start collecting bits to try this myself. Any chance you could start a thread or list what parts are needed and where to source?
Thanks man!

So Dxrat, what's the dry clutch like? I've ridden a couple of Ducatis with dry clutches, but never had the opportunity for a back to back comparison on the same machine.

I'll be able to tell you in a couple days hopefully. This has been a nightmare to get going actually. The last issue was my center hub wasn't true so I ordered another one from England. I finally have all the parts to reassemble it but need the time.

I just installed one that I bought from fondseca. There's a few pics in the show off section in my magazine shoot thread. Pics are at the end.

I have friction plates for a dry clutch if you need 'em: 3YL-16321-01 and 3AK-16321-00, NOS still in their little bags.

Thanks, I have a stack of them.

Finally got this thing together. It took quite a bit of massaging of several parts to get it all to work. I'm running an oil pump in place of the water pump for now. Waiting for a couple bits to get the top end all finished up.
