My RD 250 currently has all stock carburetors with the stock filters with needle clip position being in the center, the bike runs very well but on a stop first gear 1/4 throttle has a very distinctive bog unless really heavy on the rev of throttle before releasing clutch. The bike also has a good smoke trail on full 3/4 to full throttle.
Thing I have in mind to do is check my reed valves ( throttle bog)to see if they are seated. Maybe remove stock y boot to filter box and replace with foam pods.

Any suggestions would be great.

The bike is stock carbed with stock air box and new filter. I have second Generation Spec II Chambers and would like some expertise on the carburetor upgrades. I will most likely pod or a two into one filter. I just titled it today with plate on the way.

What are the thoughts or experiences using after market cables from India and if positive what vendor to choose would help also.
Not sure if these are whats being offered state side now that the RDs are in there 50's (Throttle Cable) really expensive state side, my goal is to do a complete new cable purchase.
I really like to buy from US vendors but money is tight.

I did a search and found nothing on the subject of replacing the main nozzles on my 1974 RD 250A without damaging the threads form threads that the main jet screws into. The old ones were solidified and were damaged on the way out and I do not want to damage the new main nozzles on assembly. any advice on what to use would be great.

1974 RD 250

Question is this, should I run my stock carbs with the Dave F mod or replace with new carbs. Engine is stage II port with stock cages with TDR reeds.

Debating purchasing new components and would like some feed back if any of you made these purchases and your input. Other options of course rebuilding and restoring originals.

What did the Yamaha factory use on the RD side enging casings to adhere the metal badges.
Even after almost 50 years they were very hard to remove.

On my 1972 Yamaha CS5 200 the tachometer has three indicator lights going left to right, Green/Neutral, Amber/Flasher and Red/?   it has a C next to it on the meter.

They will be used on an RD 350 1975B model, I have found several vendors but I am wanting some feedback on others experience in their decal purchase.

I purchased this last summer, it was on craigslist located in Boise, ID for three months not a soul purchased it and it looked brand new, I just figured something was wrong with it as it was selling for $1800.00 . My daughter moved from Texas to Meridian,Id  figured I would call him up to ask some questions on the Blaster, the man said he is the second owner and they do not ride it..... so I go through the hit list with the usual questions and he says it is solid and they don't ride it, then he says that it is like new. okay I am snagged on the line now and ask the wife if she wants to go visit Kristine our daughter her husband and two grand kids....well you can only guess the answer from my wife. So the weekend comes and I am up early and loading up the truck with the usual's spare, jack tools...you know its a road trip. I also had to pull our trailer because if I bought the Blaster I would not be able to get it in the back of the pick up without a proper ramp. Well the wife says why are we taking the truck and the trailer    So she says what is it and how much does it cost... she chilled out after about an hour into the trip and refocused on visiting family members. We arrive at the purchase location and the guy says take it for a ride and you dont have to ask me twice and I am test riding it and the whole time just thinking can this be for real, because the machine is flawless with of course the hint of some carb tuning. the man said he rode it once just like the previous owner and at the moment I realised that the machine scared the shit out of them, I looked at the rear grab bar and sure enough it had been bent  with no other rash markings anywhere else... I offered him $1700. and he took it. Even the wife was saying we scored because after all the years since teens she knows what two stroke engine noise should sound like.

I inquired if he is manufacturing the exhaust for the RD 400-350's and the answer was not yet but if there is enough demand he will produce them.
