General Chatter / Why so fast?
March 14, 2024, 01:15:09 PM
here I am out today riding my rd350b. I don't have to go far to be on really winding roads. I am 60 now and I have always wanted all my different motorcycles to get every little bit of power out of it. to the best of my ability.
back to the ride. I turn on one road and I try to keep it quiet around houses. I was probably doing 55 and coming into some turns. then it hit me. why do I have to go so fast through these turns. after that I slowed it down a level and rode the rest of the day just enjoying the ride.
I liked the ride better.

i personally think it's a waste of a good 2 stroke. it would have been better off with a 4 stroke engine.

Turning Wrenches / intermittent fuel leak
October 16, 2023, 07:44:02 AM
i've been chasing this leak out of the overflow hoses out the bottom of the float bowls on rd350b.
i have replaced the needle and seats, set float tangs to 15mm, inspected the floats for cracks or damage. yesterday it was raining so i pulled the carbs again. checked the float height again and 15mm. made sure the needle and seats had no debris. inspected the float shafts in bowls. found nothing. started looking at the floats again and found the sleeves in the floats were loose where you could remove them. picture attached. Has anyone else run into this?
thanks,

General Chatter / such a pleasure to ride
July 23, 2023, 10:23:44 AM
i can go out on my harley and eventually i start feeling the heat from the exhaust on my right leg.
i can go out on my buell and in no time my right leg is cooking. They're both fun but i always feel the heat.
i can go out on my rd350 and run the hell out of it and nothing. i have zero to complain about. no heat, handles like a dream, and did i mention the fun factor.
way to to go Yamaha!!

General Chatter / Big decision
June 25, 2023, 02:58:50 PM
i looked out today and said do i cut my lawn? should i use the tractor and do landscape? or just hop on the rd and feel your butt slide back into the seat just as the power starts to hit?

General Chatter / i use gps.
May 04, 2023, 03:41:44 PM
i go out to the virginias  mountains a couple times a year. the first time i went i took my 1973 rd350 and i almost over shot several turns. since then i have bought a gps unit. i don't use it for directions but the main reason i use it i can see the turns coming up and lets me adjust my speed for the turn. no surprises. the picture is from 12 years ago. unfortunately this place has closed down. they would always let me park my truck and trailer there. i made sure i bought something.
