General Chatter / Re: LA drivers
April 24, 2024, 06:45:36 AM
Whether in a car or on your bike, if you are waiting for the light to turn red, first one in line, here in Chicago drivers will pull up on the right-hand side where there is no lane and race you to get a head of you. And this is in intersections. It's insane, I mean really, just to get ahead of one car/bike? Now I have had some pretty fast cars, will not do it on my bike, but there were times that there was no way I was going to allow this to happen. This causes the driver to slam on their brakes because if they don't, they will rear end the park cars as they try to cut back in front of you. Call me an a-hole, don't care.

Do I like driving fast when I can, yes. Do I like riding fast around here, not really. But where I live now compared to where I used to live, well living in Chicago has taken most of the fun out of it. I'm old enough to not care how much faster my bike might be with better pipes, etc.

Show Off / A few bikes I built..
January 07, 2024, 08:59:30 AM
Built the beast, then my young son wanted a tank bike, I have one as well not pictured. So, we stripped an old 50's huffy convertible bike I found on CL. Traded a guy an old frame I had for it and went to town. I showed my son parts, he picked them out. At first, he wanted it plain ol metal so all I did was coat it with Gibbs. Then he wanted it painted the color you see it now. He luved that bike, rode it to school even though he had a dirt bike, friends luved it too. Then he grew out of it, posted on CL. A woman showed it her son who luved it too., She got on bus, came to house, bought it, and rode it off. LOL, she was a tad too big, but it didn't stop her riding it home. Wish I had a pic of that. Offered to drive her, nope.

That sucks, but I on the other hand had zero issues with these pipes. But they also didn't come screwed up due to shipping. And I thought, hmmm if these get damaged coming from South America, I'm screwed. I like you, rolled the dice, but I got lucky. Now, I have been asked about their performance and I have no idea because I have nothing to compare them to. Can you get paypal involved?

I have these, and he dented them for me. I used the relocation kit (modified that some as well), bent the he|| out of the kickstand over and over and added a half inch aluminum block to bottom of kick stand matching it perfectly to the original part of the stand that will lay upon the ground. It still leans more than stock, but what the he||. Moved spring to front of kick stand, cut the tab off that the spring attached to and moved it to front side of kick stand. I could have welded another piece to the stand in order to use my foot to move the kickstand down but didn't. I just use my hand/fingers to do that. It was a ton of work to get it so the kick basically sits almost flush with the frame, doesn't hit the pipes or rearsets. The rearsets also needed finagling in order to work for me. I shimmed the pipes inward too, this then made it so pipes just hit the center stand tabs, out came the mini sledge, fixed.

yeah, thats def not the spring i was thinking of.

I did, I had the whole thing apart, cleaned it, etc. The ignition key, god knows what bike it's from, will not go into the tumbler of the gas cap. As you can see,the main groove is cut on opposite sides.

I tried that and the ignition key will not slide in at all.
