General Chatter / I want this!

"Victa model 500 twin cylinder lawnmower. Introduced in 1975 and only made for a brief period, the opposed twin cylinder engine displaced a modest 170cc. The engine was fueled by Victa's own design 'G4' carburetor. The round discs on the top side of each cylinder barrel are an automatic compression release, used to ease starting effort.

For those unaware, Victa is an Australian manufacturer, and has been in business since all the way back in 1952. Unfortunately, these machines were never (to my knowledge, anyways) sold in the USA. I've spent most of my life in the outdoor power equipment industry and have never seen one in person here in the States.

Wonderful example of Australian engineering in my opinion!"FB_IMG_1713480123867.jpg

General Chatter / Re: LA drivers

It's not just LA and not just the 4 wheel drivers.
Yesterday me and a freind pulled up to a stop sign.I was on my vintage Honda CB400F and he on his CB750F. We were preparing to go through the intersection straight.  We started off and immediately had to hit the brakes as a moron on a newer sport bike who I guess didn't like stopping at intersections came up from behind us and around us on our left and turned to the right, in front of us cutting us off just as we started moving. I came very close to hitting him.
I yelled at him calling something and the moron returned the the favor with a middle finger salute.

Quote from: m in sc on March 30, 2024, 09:00:15 PMive used evaporust. whats the dawn for?
When I clean parts currently I use hot water and Dawn dish soap it works well. I was thinking instead of water trying Evaporust with the dish soap.

General Chatter / Ultrasonic fluid ?

So I was wondering if anyone has tried using Evaporust with a bit of Dawn in the hydrosonic machine.
I'm wondering if you can kill two birds with one stone doing this?

Is that a part that regularly goes bad?
I've been running mine pretty hard for a couple months now cleaning A LOT of parts.

I lost a faithful fur family member a couple years ago.
 I feel your pain.

General Chatter / Re: Why so fast?
March 15, 2024, 10:36:36 AM
After years of racing and lots of street shenanigans I am now at the point where speed is not important.  In fact I would rather ride a smaller bike on back country roads at a very leisurely pace.
The thrill of speed doesn't elude my memories. Neither does the memory of multiple broken body parts that came with it.
