Joe, I was only suggesting a possible build combination, I have to pass, I'm finishing up odds and end customer jobs, not taking on anything new. I have several personal projects of my own I'd like to see completed. One is a stroked GT80 for our RD60, a very intense 175 drag engine, revamp the current 175 drag engine for nitrous, reassemble our RD400 land speed engine and dyno build pipes for it, finish the land speed FJ1100 chassis and build a 400 bottom with sleeved and injected R5 with a  Procharger engine and my son reminded me Monday I promised him a 522cc build for our street RD400, I better live to be 100 because at the rate I'm going it will take until then.

rearwheelslider, we have a RD400 that is ported and piped and our street engine runs modified VM28's. The roads in my area our somewhat hilly and twisty and the 28's work great.

JR, last year when we discussed this if I remember correctly you were adamant about using the R5 bottom and exactly 410cc and finishing in 2nd place was out of the question, this required bore/stroke/rod changes, dyno time, crank balancing etc making for a costly build. Now that I see you are allowing a 400 into the mix a much more logical build is possible, by the way, do not short rod the 400, go 120 or maybe 122 to 125. You are running in the dirt and a short rod might cause wheel spin, you need to hook up right out of the hole. My first thoughts without studying it would be 2R9 cylinders @ 64.75mm bore, crank build, porting, 40 Lectrons, 6 petal reeds etc.

Might want to consider the rod/stroke ratio if for street. You would be going from an already 1.85:1 to 1.77:1, no problem on a well maintained race setup. Just a thought.

Will a 1972/3 LT2 100cc engine bolt into a RD60 frame without modifying the frame. I have a 1980 GT80 engine that I am going to bolt in because its a bolt swap but was just offered a LT2 engine but do not know if it is a direct swap, I'm of the opinion it isn't. I do not want to molest the frame because it has a matching numbers newly rebuilt engine and the entire bike only has 900+ miles on it plus we've had it maybe 20 years or more. I have 1974/5 MX100 engines and they will not bolt in but I think the bottom end cases of the LT2 is an older design. Thanks in advance.

Guys, I am closing the business. I appreciate having been able to do work for and be part of the RD street and race crowd for decades. Met more friends through the business than I could ever count and am eternally grateful for that. I just had a couple heart surgeries and have been told to take it easy for the next couple months making this a good jumping off point. As some of you know that have been to the shop, I have a couple projects that have been ignored and neglected so now I'll dedicate a bit of time to them as I can.

I'm not doing anything for sale. I always think about it but never do it. Between Lomas and Gary there is coverage for the market. The selling price is staggering in my mind, I know what manufacturing costs are so I'm surprised there aren't 100 brands to choose from.

Makr at Speed of Cheeze cut one and did a beautiful job on it. Couple years ago I traded my 16" lathe in because I wanted a larger rpm selection for a 14" lathe and the Daytona head will not clear the ways so I can only do cut heads.

I would ask what exhaust port timing range they are built for (blowdown is important too but...), reason I mention this is because the RD350 cylinders in India have restricted exhaust ports, possible Brazil has something different from what we are familiar with.

Jim, just saw your post. That was an expired special. Porting, crank rebuild and machining services are all available. While I have a state of the art engine dyno and software, it is not a service offered to the public. I use it for development and extreme customer builds.
