I totally missed the boat on these.  Will there be another chance at some point?

I have a lifted AWD Astro converted to 4wd with the 4L60E.  They have good upgrades for that trans, plus a corvette servo and it's pretty much good for life.

Great truck.  Looks clean and rust free for a Michigan truck and nice low miles.  Something to consider in the future- that's a $6k-$8k truck in Georgia  I'm orginally from New Baltimore, Michigan and have most of my family up there. Lived in Philadelphia until 2013. My family loves to come down here in one vehicle and they drive home in two. You're not paying the 4wd/rust free premium down here.  A good buddy is in Mid-Ohio and he's shopping for box S-10s down here, because they don't have the rust and cost $2k less.

I run Dunlop Sportmax on my FT500, which is set up like a Supermoto.  Possibly the best grip for a street tire I've tried to date.  The Avon Streetrunners I posted earlier that are installed on my RD are on the harder side for my taste.  Not sure I am too happy with those tires.

I just get them from my local auto store or Amazon.  Didn't know there was a fake market.

I hope you guys don't mind me asking here, since it's related, but is there a source for the latch pin on the RD400 tank that the cap latch hooks around?  Right now, I'm using a cotter pin which works fine, and I can certainly find some rod of the same dimension and make one, but hoping there's a source for the real deal somewhere else.

The silver looks great.  If you haven't tried the Lil' Daddy Roth Rattle Bombs, give them a look in the future for a shadetree candy paint job.  Their kit with Gang Green base/Custard Pie Flake/Gang Green Candy is very Kawasaki-esque. I've even done a BMW smoke paint job with the Rattle Bombs.

That tank is hilarious.  I love the KZ mags.  Just wish they weren't so dang heavy.

Unfortunately, the Japanese were still mastering their casting in the 70s and aluminum was much more porous in their cases then.  As experienced as you are with converting to LCs, you probably have noticed the difference between the 80s castings and 70s castings.  If you really want to keep the case clean and not end up with black pores, you'll probably want to get a can of CRC 3-36 or similar and keep them coated. I agree with a previous post about how terrible vapor honed aluminum looks with a clear coat.  I spray everything I vapor hone with 3-36, unless I plan to anodize, powder or paint.

Quote from: Kawtriplefreak on November 19, 2023, 03:33:36 PMIf you have his tag numberand/or description of him and his vehicle you can have him cited and possibly arrested for leaving the scene of an accident with property damage(hit and run) which he deserves. His insurance has to pay for any and all damage to you and your bike. Call the police and report it. The only downside is they may inquire as to why you didn't report it from the scene and wait there for local law enforcement which is what you are supposed to do. You can say you were disoriented and unsure what you were supposed to do.  Either way you are the victim and they should treat you as such.
Thanks for the advice.  This is why I post to this site.  It's a time I was wishing I had the GoPro on my helmet, which I do more and more lately.  Not so much for the YouTube videos, but to record when something stupid happens. Fortunately, it's only my second encounter with a cage. The first was a mother and daughter arguing in a Suburban.  They took a right turn at a red light and never looked my direction. I had to split the lanes riding through the light to get by without a hit. After that incident, I bought the GoPro.

I've never experienced a Dyna ignition burning out when ignition is left on.  What is the charge on the battery after you put it on the tender and what type of battery?  It's possible you fried the battery.  With wet cell batteries you can oxidise them to the point they lose their amps.  With AGM, you can actually seperate the plates when you take the charge all the way down.  In both cases, you can often get most of a charge, but not a complete charge, and/or lose their ability to send enough power to start.  You can test this by putting a meter on the battery while hitting the start button and watch the power completely drop to level incapable of turning the starter.

Quote from: AAAltered on November 19, 2023, 09:33:44 AMThank goodness you are ok.  What was the other drivers reaction?
He stopped, waited for me to get my bike up and out of the road, pulled up next to me, stared for a minute through his 20% shade window tint, then drove off. No words.  It was bizarre, actually.  The only thing I can figure is he wanted to avoid conflict.  Not sure how that plays out if I was injured or something, but I assume as long as no contact there's not much I could do but raise hell.

Why are you guys running a heavy, semi-floating 4 pot caliper on an RD? A stock RD is 100 to 150lbs lighter with 25% of the torque and horsepower as an R1. A 2 pot floating Nissin from an SV650 with the same rotors is borderline too much brake and they're easier to adapt. Even if you're running chambers and tuned to 50-60 hp, I don't see it. It may even be less safe.

Nice! I put over 300k on a 99 Grand Cherokee with the 4.7 V8. I sold it to a co worker 4 years ago and his daughter is driving it to this day.
