I have one of these silly things:

And I need to bore a 15mm hole in aluminum, but I don't have a chuck for the tailstock, like this:

High school machine shop was quite a while ago, so I need a little help here. The tailstock is a Morse 0 taper, which I find to be tiny. Am I going to be able to find a chuck capable of holding a 15mm drill with a 0 taper, and if such a thing exists, where should I look?

Turning Wrenches / Seats
August 17, 2021, 01:44:32 AM
I'm looking at seats and I like the Texavina, HVC and these guys:

https://bikeseatfactory.com/Yamaha-rd250-rd350-motorcycle-seat-cover-foam/

I like the foam & cover kit idea, but $45 seems steep for shipping. Anybody have experience with any of theses or recommend something similar?

Not mine,

He's asking $75 for a pair of cylinders or a cylinder and a head. Go get 'em, or one of us can help.

Not mine, but I had one...

Ad says it's a '76, but my '76 was orange and white. I wonder if there were two colors that year; Russ?

Turning Wrenches / GPS Speedos (not swimwear)
July 25, 2021, 11:26:09 PM
Are the cheap GPS speedos worth messing with? I really like a $300 unit from speedhut, but I have three projects in the works. As much as I would like to send the fine folks at speedhut a Grover, the $60 jobbies have my attention. Beyond "cheap stuff ain't good, and good stuff ain't cheap", any experience out there?

Not mine, but I'm considering it:

You probably need them more than I do!

Events / The Tiddler
July 05, 2021, 10:38:56 AM

Vashon island ahead! Dennis invited me to ride the Tiddler this year, a 350cc or less ride put on by the Vintage Motorcycle Enthusiasts. Ya get there by ferry, and motorcycles are first on and first off. Sweet.

The mysterious Mr. Gorms and his mount for the day, a lovely SRX600. A clear violation of the displacement "rule". Also flaunting excessive cubic centimeters are his son, also dgorms, on the right (nobody has ever seen his face in pictures) riding his FZR400RR and the bearded Thomas on the right. Thomas was astride a blazingly fast XS400, and I don't know why he wasn't banned. Maybe his brother, a tuner of some note on this forum, put in a good word for him?
