David Holleman posted on FB:
Ralph Ponce told me he's interested in making another batch of Webco style heads with toroidal combustion chambers if he can get enough interest!

Email him, tell him I sent you. ralphponce65@hotmail.com

General Chatter / Oh, my! Goodies from Spain

This link came up on the RZ/RD site and the stuff is so cool! We talked about their RZ heads recently, and now there's an adjustable rear suspension link that's making my wallet tingly.

Not mine, it's used and might be missing some parts, but the price is OK...I think  :umm:

Same seller as the cut RD350 heads has this water-cooled head "project" as well:

Not mine and never heard of 'em, but they're pretty good looking. For $1300, they'd better look nice.

Turning Wrenches / New mixers arrived on the hill
February 28, 2022, 08:35:21 PM
Brought these home from Portland last week, where I was able to visit Mr. Ron Black:

OEM RZ350 carburetors taper-bored to 29mm (I think I mistakenly said 30mm elsewhere) with divider plates installed and supposedly jetted to suit. Anxious to try them on Ol Faithful.

They might end up on the Rd or LC, who knows?

:rant-1: Is FB marketplace this difficult for everyone? I've been thinking about joining for the purpose of selling to a large audience without making eBay richer, and when Milan asked for help picking up a Suzuki here in Washington it seemed like the time. The seller ghosted our man Milan, apparently because he's too far away, so I allowed myself to be assimilated. Trouble is, I can't access marketplace! I'm given the opportunity to join endless groups, and I can, through a rather clunky process, look up someone such as Ed Toomey Designs and see their, uh, thread? Kinda cool.
Trying to access marketplace, and using the help center, dumps me into a loop of non-specific tips and links that all lead to "Marketplace isn't available to you now", so I Googled it. Found sites that say marketplace isn't accessible until 11-12 MONTHS after joining. That can't be right! (?)
What am I doing wrong...besides joining FB?   :'(

Big jump from the last one at $20,500; can this continue? As a formality, not mine!

Sure look nice. Dennis should probably buy them and keep them at my place!

Turning Wrenches / Figuring out this braking conundrum
February 19, 2022, 07:36:48 PM
I'm trying to match up the front master cylinders I have to the front calipers/rotors of the project bikes languishing in the barn, and I've been referring to the magic Vintage Brake ratio chart. http://vintagebrake.com/mastercylinder.htm
I started out looking for a suitable master for my RD350 with 6-piston TL1000R caliper and 320mm disc (I know): four 27mm pistons and two 24mm pistons is 3193.38 square mm. I have on hand a 1/2" master (CBR600F2) that the chart says will yield a 25.2:1 ratio, which is right in the sweet spot. But...that F2's four 25.335mm pistons are 2015.45 square mm, which the chart puts at 15.9:1, well into the "wooden" category. I can't imagine Honda getting it wrong, so I checked the Ol Faithful RZ for comparison. It has two stock 38.18 pistons (2288.6 square mm) acted upon by a 5/8" master, which the chart says is an 11.46:1 ratio; oughtta be awful. It isn't, and hasn't been for 20 years. I must be doing something wrong, and it's surely my math but I can't find my mistake(s). Anybody feel like crunching numbers?

I know, they're rough. I think they've been discussed here before...

https://www.ebay.com/itm/363125305091?hash=item548bf46f03:g:l~kAAOSwEzlfRoKV&autorefresh=true

I made an offensive lowball offer...basically lawn-bowling low. They might as well get SOMETHING for them, right? a little welding, a set of TYGA cans, a sandblast and respray... :omg: what was I thinking  :burnout:

Or, hell, a set of these cheapies:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/175124612296

And run 'em

Maybe I can win these!

Ellensburg is smack in the middle of Washington, near...nothing, really. (I went to school there, so I get to cap on it a little)

Turning Wrenches / Source for JDM parts needed
January 09, 2022, 04:26:04 PM
I bought a lovely swingarm from peaky here, for a 1988 3EN1 JDM FZR400R and I need to find a source for parts. Neither CMS nor Megazip have breakdowns for a model with this braced beauty, and it...well, it's a long story. Anybody have a sweet source for parts for Japanese market bikes?

Turning Wrenches / Good article

This was posted over on the RZ/RD site and although it's about the V-twin TZs, it's good general 2-stroke information and a nice read. It's long, so get comfortable!
