Got a bit more done today, tank & fuel lines connected, seat unit fitted along with the ignition switch. I've have fresh fuel and looking to fire it up tomorrow and take it round the block on a shakedown run.....hopes!!

The seat looks lik eit doesn't sit down correctly, I've since fixed velcro and with mt phat ass on the thing it'll sit tight in no time heheh!

Blimey, has it really been 4 months?!!

Not a lot has happened due to electrical work needing my lad to fix....one way diodes on indicator idiot light repeater and headlamp wiring/relays etc. Anyhoo, it's all stitched up yesterday so now I can crack on to a finish....he stated very confidently. Not much to see that's changed but behind the headlamp cowl is a complete working wiring loom...



Meanwhile, I was refitting the footpegs, gear lever and adjusting the clutch.

I think it needs the tank refitting, petrol and it just might fire up and actually ride!!

I needed to shorten the footpeg pivot pins....not having immediate access to my tame turner I had to improvise a method of cutting a new groove for the retaining clips.

Also, needed them cut down with my 1mm cutting disc and profiled on my bench belt sander.

Came out OK I reckon.



I'm having a blob of MIG inside the pivot mount area so the peg doesn't go overcentre and to align the pegs level.

Wiring...arrghhh!!

I think the connection at the spigot will prevent any movement. The pipe CAN'T move backwards, and it would have to overcome spring tension to move forwards. The joints appear to be at their maximum lateral (?) rotation, so I think you're safe. It'll be a good experiment!

Exactly....the max'd out angle of the top joint has locked the entire stem down to the lower.....if there is a touch of movement, that would absorb vibration....and, like you stated, the entire exhaust is held pretty rigidly in place with just enough movement to save it from destructive vibrations......we'll see...I would need to get some miles on it first haha!

Thank you....getting some flack on FB due to movement and vibration worries. The exhaust is not moving although the top joint if locked due to the angle and the barrel mount if a spigot & dbl spring affair....??

Well, I think my plan for a rear exhaust mount worked out OK.






Managed to shoehorn in the front guard too. Shaped the Delrin spacers I had made to follow the contour of the modified ex CBX front guard into something simple but effective...I hope.



I've not discounted the idea of a small mud flap if the spray is too agressive.

The flat matt black is raw WURTH stonechip.....it marks up easily, so I may give it a coat of regular matt black....or leave it ;)



From this POV it looks a touch high, but viewed from above it sits fine.

Headlight unit to install next....need to rejig/connect the speedo idiot light loom into a 6way connector and tidy/tape the rest.

Hey Colin, is there a hole for a pipe hanger bolt that I don't see? I like the blue reservoir hose; I don't remember seeing such a thing before.

I've had a think......going to use double rose joints, 1x male and 1x female joined/locked together....this will give me a flexible, but rigid 'dogbone' bracket so to speak. M10 buttonhead allen shoulder bolts in 35mm using a dome nut on the outside should produce a neat means of mounting if it goes to plan?

I have the Microns hanging on some stereo support strap as a mock up. The rear mounts are the next parts to be fabricated. I could use a piece of 3mm alloy bashed/cut/drilled into shape....or...dick about and fab (with the help of my tiggy mate) a fancy bracket....those tube one's with the round tube ends...dogbone I think they're called...perhaps, we'll see ;)
I'm using the pillion peg captive with a horizontal north pointing bracket to hold the pipes....thinkk I'll cut a triangle piece of 3mm alloy and bend the tops to match the angle of the Micron mount tab.

Quite pleased with how my hotch-potch footpeg/brake pedal/master cyclinder/reservoir set up worked out.

Now you see it....



Nothing too conventional but perfectly serviceable I hope? I'm not entirely 100%on the blue reservoir pipe routing but routing inside the subframe put it a little too close for comfort to the swingarm travel....a possible shear scenario.

...now you don't. Ignore the ropey wire on the battery...soon to be remade.
