I've got a set of daytona carbs if you want to keep it original. Looks like you have no excuses.

Man, I have a set as well. I'll sell them, to support my project habits.

I'm not in a hurry with my build, so when I found a builder I trusted with a good name, I worked with him.  If you know he is not going to screw you over and do a good job, work with his timeline.  Lots of guys who do good work with the stuff they love don't make a living, or barely make a living doing what they love.  Communicate with them, see if they can light a fire to get your project done.  Just keep your emotions at bay to see if you can be positive through it.  If you think the guy will not do a good job, or screw you, then it's time to communicate your timeline and see if he can work it out.  If he has a good name, keep patient, communicate, do what you can to stress you're tired of waiting.

Don't take it from me though, I'm more patient with my project than most. . . I enjoy the build as much as the ride. . . . well maybe the build more. . . . so sad.

i havent used  a stock rotor in so long i forgot. lol.

Hope to get there soon enough. Front is already upgraded, but I just want to get this on the road at this point. Once I'm done I'd like to go to spoked rims and a different rear brake. I don't know why but I am starting to like the look of drum in the back. It seems you really don't need much more brake than that. Either way, not now, want to get it running.

You guys are awesome. Thanks.

Thanks guys. I went with allen and washers with loctite. Cause it was local. I'll save up for the titanium at a later date when the big things are out of the way.

How about the rotor to carrier bolts. I have some of the original flat head bolts, but the rest are cut bolts. Does anyone know the size bolts I need for that offhand??

Really wish the guy before me wasn't MacGyver.

No lock washers?  Just loctite?  Thanks.

Hey guys, like the topic suggests, the rotor bolts, or studs that hold the rotor on the rim.  I think they are 8mm.  What do you guys use?  Do you continue to use the retainer washers that bend over, or is a lock washer acceptable?

I'm asking more for my front brake setup as I'm going to blue dot and haven't thought through it. Garrett did a great job with his plug and play setup, couldn't be more happy about the quality of the parts he provided.  I think he also told me what to use, just have lost the text as it was prob over a year ago.

I'm also wondering if you guys use stainless steel bolts for the rotor to carrier.  My basket case had mismatched bolts everywhere and I mean everywhere. Most are rusty enough to be concerned.  Some were original, some not and I have no idea where to find them, or just upgrade to something better.  I've tried to scour the internet, but my terminology is probably locking me in an echo chamber.

Thanks for any info.

Yeah, I'm a slow mover, but this is the final mock up before the frame gets squirted. Wanted to iron out all the tabs. Can't thank Chuck enough for all his hard work. Super great guy to work with. More to come, hope to be riding this coming year. She is coming together for sure!

General Chatter / Re: What would you do? Seat options
December 02, 2019, 08:46:05 PM
Thanks guys for the feedback. One of the reasons I didn't want one of the seats mentioned is that they just look to big for what I was looking for. I like the look of that type seat, but in a smaller style.  Maybe more slender so it hugs the frame a bit. It doesn't help that I played around with the tail and I kinda like the exposed look as well. I shorted up the back a bit to snug up the look. I keep thinking bassani was on to something when they made their pipes a mile long. I'll probably end up tucking the seat inside the frame, then keep my eyes open for another seat to flip in on longer rides or after I agree with most of you guys. Lol

General Chatter / What would you do? Seat options

I'm looking for feedback on ideas. Would you wrap a seat to hide the frame, or snug a small seat into the frame and keep the frame exposed. I've got a friend that will build me a seat for some vapor honing on his bike. The guy is really talented with stitch work and custom seats.

This is a stripped down bike build. Nothing in the bike is not "needed", or very minimal, of course I'll regret all that, but it is what it is.

Got mine from Garrett as well. Still putting my bike together, so I'm a ways out. He was super nice to deal with.

I saw these and was wondering . . . I guess for me I was not so worried about the holes in the spokes but I see hacked up holes in the hub. Maybe race guys trying to drop weight?  Done with some persision I wouldn't think that the spoke holes would be a problem, but hub holes I could see lots of problems long term with.

I'm into the miata scene. Love when I take a $50k muscle car with my little boosted miata. The looks are priceless.
