Is it ok to have the trans input shaft bearing on the points side an eighth  inch inside the outer case edge? When it is flush, the gear on the outer end of the input shaft rubs the case and shaves the metal. Seems like a lot of lateral play on both shafts anyway; is that normal?

Today I put my trans together and had the star shaped shift drum cam on backwards.

Do you guys recommend the locktite for general purposes on a stock rebuild with all new bearings in an r5?

Haven't seen as many old bikes in general lately, compared to two years ago, for sale on Craigslist.  Bikes go up in value, currency goes down.   

nice work!  those things are exactly suited to my tastes of what a good looking four stroke bike is.

The local old timer machinist told me not to get it glass blasted because it won't all come out afterward.
The air/soda setup is only a few bucks worth of tube, so I'm gonna do that, just for kicks.

What about the outside, then? Does baking soda blast work we'll?
