Since this thread has kind of gone astray anyway... that's an un-cushioned KTM hub and brake nestled in that Motolana swingarm, isn't it friends and neighbors?

Where are you located I Washington? Jim and I are in the Portland area. Well I work there and live in the gorge. Nice to know who's local.

There's a guy local to me that does it. He has done about 8 paint jobs for me. Rz350 rz500 rd400x4 rd250 and has done other paint jobs for customers of mine. For a rd paint job when you supply the decals is about $650 if your body work is decent.

Thanks for the good words jim about the pipes. I have used all the pipes mentioned above and they all have the same issue with the kickstand fortunately for me I can my own pipes and have total control over what's going on with them. For me and what I want to offer is a modified kickstand not really a relocation kit. My plan is to move the spring to the front side bs the rear and to cut the kick stand only keeping the very top and the foot. From there use a straight tube vs a bent rod that was designed to tuck under a stock pipe. You should end up with the same angle and length at the end of the day. A lot of people have just simply bent the kickstand to clear which causes the bike to lean over a ridiculous amount.

I've ran Jim Loomas back to back with fpp and couldn't tell a difference other than they look very nice but are spendy. I've ran spec 2 classics his latest design for them to my pipes prior to owning them and hands down they way out performed spec 2 pipes. The first set of pipes I have built is going on a customer bike and my dad will be riding it to do the tuning. He has never ridden or used the pipes so I will report back with his input.

Turning Wrenches / Re: Bore Gauge Options
November 23, 2019, 08:10:08 PM
A .0001 gauge is a must for checking bores. But that's only the inspection part of it. Do you have a hone  and a boring machine? I bought my sunnen Mandrel for $260 plus like $60 for the stones. The. You need a way to hold the cylinder and hone it after you bore it. Most have access to none of these things so I would say send your cylinders to get the job bored.

I have about $4000 in my equipment maybe a little more and have yet to make that back yet but I enjoy doing it and know people get a quality job that's right because it's all I do is vintage 2 stroke work similar to chuck. He's a great guy and machinist knows his stuff. Don't just send it to anyone is what I'm saying...

Anyway find an older mitutoyo gauge or Starrett.

If you want help I charge $50 a hole

I'm located in the Portland Oregon area and happy to help out. I actually just rebuilt a Tom turner engine that ate a rod and ruined a cylinder. Had a similar setup. I'll ad pictures and what not to my vendor section of my bore work head work and crank rebuilding.

Team Scream / Re: 'How To' JL pipe mod

Awesome work chuck! This is exactly why I'm offering up the manifold upgrade. Much thicker 3/8 flange and machined tolerances with a squished high temp silicone o ring. People paid good money for that pipe only to get a crappy thin flange with a groove cut in it by what looks like a grinder.
You came up with a great solution though.
