From what I have read about the 400 version, not very impressive according to Japanese magazines of the time.
Looks good though

What's it worth...
Doubt it will sell for less than $4000, even though it should have a complete rebuild.

I got my decals from RD Decals also.
Fit perfect, although the blue is not as dark as I think it should be.

Looking forward to Aprilia having more possibilities of getting manufacture points. No longer running Superbike, they need some more wide spread interest in the name...only about 50 dealers in the country at the moment. It's nice to see some US based interest the MotoGP again.

I'm still waiting for Indy to come back into the schedule

Parts availability... New parts are few and far between, but used parts are pretty cheap. I would not consider one if they are that much $$$, and get a more modern and much better RGV. Parts are much easier to find, and there are places that still have everything for a motor rebuild or up grade. Handling and HP of a RGV will make an RG feel pretty sad for the same effort and $$$ to rebuild.

They had the worlds first production aluminum frame in 83. I have seen people use RGV250, or if living in the US, older 600 bandit/katana front ends and rear wheels to modernize them to better tires and brakes.

I wonder if in 95 on up yamaha possibly used a different method of stamping...? Or a replacement frame that was stamped / etched at a later date.
I did not notice that

A guy on the RGV forum was asking about it and bidding on it for a while...
But no verification of engine condition, and severely limited parts availability.

Definitely a UK built frame/swingarm.
Looks like the one that was built a number of years ago over there.

Would definitely love to see pics of what it looks like now, the barn find patina look is so much cooler than restored in many cases. And dry clutches are just plain cool.

Maybe it's leaking internally, through the piston that slides back when you pull the lever...like a bad seal in a choke valve.
If it's not internal, possibly use a copper washer like used on brake lines or bottoms of fork tubes.

Quote from: 85RZwade on January 26, 2024, 11:56:35 AMRandy, I love that Jemco and I predict that bike will be giggle-in-the-helmet fun for you. Great project and your write-ups are always entertaining

Thanks
Wish I could write up more, but the older I get the more I think about doing, and the less I actually do... :umm:
