I'd just leave it in.  Cleaning won't hurt it.
How are you having them blasted?

Need to remove it to get the shift drum and shift forks out.  Tempted to leave it and just get the top half of the case blasted.  Cant see the bottom case when it's all together anyway.

My machinist says he can blast with "super fine media" that gives a similar finish to vapor blast and won't erode the mating surfaces, etc.

Trying to strip my grungy LC cases all the way down so I can get them blasted clean.

This f*%ker has got me stumped:

Of course, Mr Haynes makes it seem like no big deal, but after bending over the tab and getting after it with a 17mm and a flat screwdriver, I can't figure it out.

WTF?

I use a hydration pack when woods riding, and on DS rides.  Good for snowboarding too.

I opt for a bigger/tougher pack.  The flimsy jogging ones just don't hold up on the trail.

Plus, I need room for:  Beers, snax, tools, layers, camera, etc.

... and yes, fill the bladder with ice.

Ugh.  Got front calipers off last night.

Pistons are completely roached, so will likely just throw the calipers in a box and fit a pair of R1/R6 blue spots with NK Racing adaptors.

Yep.  Running a PBI 520 conversion on my KH400.

They are right down the road from me, so I got a tour of the factory and some swag when I went to pick em up.

If you need a new chain/sprox, then going 520 is a good idea, but I wouldn't do it just to do it.

Current state of things:

Got the LC running (barely).

Wouldn't run on the carbs, but would fire off carb cleaner down the carb bore, or down the spark plug holes.  I'm assuming the pilot circuits are blocked (even after many rotations thru the Berryman's and ultrasonic cleaner).  Stands to reason, as the carbs were full of nasty varnish.  Slide, float valve and choke plunger were all way stuck in the left carb and needed lots of heat and coaxing to come unglued.  I'll try a bit more cleaning and dig out the brass balls, etc, but may just pick up a new set of PWK28's and be done with it.  Will likely also do Vforce3 v384a reeds and pipes and keep the airbox.

As suspected, crank seals are fried, so engine is out and in the basement for disassembly.  Looks like it suffered a seize at some time in the past, as one of the pistons is pretty smeary and shows some heavy damage at the intake side.  Crank will head north across the big river to GRA400C for rebuild.  Not sure what to do with the cyls/head.  A light tune (head skim, lite port) sounds good but not sure who to send it to here in the States.  The best LC tuners are in the UK and shipping back and forth would be $$$$$.  Plus, these things are already real peaky, so whatever happens, I'll be looking for more midrange.

Chassis will likely stay stock.  These are (of course) super rare here (especially the 4U0) so staying stock will be best value.  Got someone lined up to do the stock JDM blue stripe paint when $ allows.  Just gonna clean everything up and throw on a set of tires and ss brakelines and call it good for now.

Anyway, gonna be slow going until the KH400 sells, but that's where I'm at.

SRX600 was a cult bike to be sure.

Not many sold here in the states, but popular in Japan and Europe

Bulletproof 600 single, and high-spec cycle parts.

Hard to go wrong if the price is right.

I have gotten sidetracked to deadend placeholders when keying in 2strokeworld.net since the beginning.

I have to follow a certain link or I get sidetracked.

Turning Wrenches / Re: VForce V384A reeds

Mark (or Chuck), have you fitted VForce reeds to the RD350LC cylinders?

There is some adamant debate on Norbo's forum that there are no VForce 3 or 4 that fit the LC's without modifying the cyls.  Even with spacers.
