Yeah too many colors. Headlights are awful. Lots of other parts to love though, would  love to hear a bit about performance.

I have one that plugs into phone, for the money it was pretty good ($40 or so). Better than older self contained ones I've used. Good investment. Depstech is the brand. You have to get a free app for it to work.

Yeah, he must have sold it offline. I was watching it on Ebay and gone. Largely out of morbid curiosity, but if the price was right I'd buy it. Location was only an hour and a half from me. Daytonas have a place in my heart, but I realize they're not the easiest to refurb. Wonder what it sold for.

Hmm. Not far from me either. Will keep an eye on this one. I imagine gas tanks are scarce, like RZ tanks.

I'm with m in sc on the old 8 o'clock bean. Cheap but good. Folgers tastes and smells like dookie. Will grind some beans now and then when I have time. Tim Hortons is also good, that may only be a northerners thing not sure.

Really sweet mountain bike.

2 Steve I bought that bike from Bill and owned it a couple years. It was a pristine bike, loved everything about it. Sold it for RZ's. A few laps at Oak Hill with it.

Looks pretty darn good to me.

Yeah preaching to the choir. I realize the Daytonas are harder to restore, but I've always liked them especially for their uniqueness. Several college friends had them back in the day.

Thanks for your help guys. May try to lighten it up a bit. It is a mostly stock RZ with a fresh rebuild, Toomey pipes with the big K&N filter. 1st oversize pistons.

Turning Wrenches / RZ Oil Pump Stroke/Shims
May 06, 2020, 04:04:22 PM
Supertune Chuck walked me through some stupid questions I had on oil pumps on the old forum. I still have some questions about the oil pump on my 85 RZ350. I rebuilt the pump and it works fine as far as I know, but checking the stroke with a dial indicator at idle I get .008-.009" of stroke. The RZ manual calls for 'minimum stroke of .004-.006'. So my questions are: Is .009" way too much? More stroke=more oil injected? How do the shims affect stroke, i.e. does more shim thickness=more stroke, or other?
I know Chuck posted a method whereby you remove the cover/pump and drive the pump with a drill to get an absolute verification of oil flow, but in my laziness I was trying to avoid taking it back apart to do that. Thanks!
