I just recently picked up a couple of Daytonas.  One has a fairing on it that looks a lot like the Maier GPZ clones mentioned above.

Here are some pictures.  There not that good but it may give you a better idea on how it looks.  I personally didn't like at at first.
I plan on putting it back on after the break down/cleanup/rebuild.

Hopefully I send the pictures properly.

Random background question, do the hooks that the weedwackers sit on hinge as your garage door opens?  I find that set up amusing for some reason 8)

I was wondering the same thing.

Not mine.

I wonder how many miles were on the old odometer?  Doesn't mention a bottom or top end rebuild.  :umm:

That is one way to reduce the miles on a motor (new speedo/odometer).

This is what I was able to see on my Daytona.

1st line-MFG BY YAMAHA MOTOR CO. LTD. 12/78 (506) GVWR 723LBS.
2nd line-GAWR FRONT- 255LBS WT 25518 (B) TIRE 18x1.85 RIM
3rd line-AT 28 PSI COLD REAR 490 LBS. WITH 3.50??? (B) TIRE

The other lines are really messed up. Hope this can help a little.

I used to love watching "Johnny Quest" as  kid.  That had to be one of the coolest cartoons, way back then.

I wonder how that bike would handle?  Do not care for the headlight.  Just doesn't look right to me.

Thanks for the information.

I emailed this guy yesterday.  I was hoping to go look at it today.  The person has not responded to the email yet.

Yesterday there was a phone # and an email option.  I just looked again for the phone # and it is not listed anymore, just the email.  Not sure what that means, if anything.

Thanks again for your response.

Hey everyone.  Happy New Year!

This came up on the local craiglist.   It seems like there is quite a bit of knowledge out there on these 900ss.

I have had the Vevor 10L  for about a year and love it too.  If I had a second chance, I would spend $34 more and get the 15L.

I thought I would try to submit the pic again.

Thank you to the forum member who sent a PM to help me.   Also to Mark for increasing the the upload size.

I am not a techy person.  Matter of fact, I don't even own a cell phone.

Thought I would chime back.  First of all, sorry if I jacked this thread.  It does fall under the umbrella of the title.

Anyway, I painted the front rim.  I am not going to do the back rim for a while.

Did it in four steps.
1.  Cleaned the rim with scotch brite pad.
2.  Polished the aluminum with "Mothers" polish.  It seemed to work better than autosol.
3.  Taped the polished circumference with blue painters tape.  I used Mark's suggestion of pin stripe tape for the polished aluminum spokes.  The width of the pin stripe tape was basically right on.  Thanks Mark!  That saved a lot of time.
4.  Painted it.  I had a difficult time because of the numerous angles on the rim.

It took about 3-4 hours.  It is not perfect, but better.

I hope I can post the pic correctly.  It compares the newly painted front to the unpainted rear rim.

Well, I guess the file is to large to post.  It is only one picture?  Maybe someone can educate me on how to post a pic.

Thanks

General Chatter / paint color information/suggestions?
October 05, 2020, 01:56:54 PM
I have a 1984 rz350.  Garrett has the engine so I am going to take some time and clean the rest up.

I was wondering if anyone knew the color of black (gloss, satin, low gloss) for black parts (kick stand, center stand, handle bars, horns, triple clamp, etc.)?  Even the rims are aluminum with black trim.  Not the red or gold trim that I have seen.

I am also going to touch up the frame a little.  Based on my research that color is Fire Red.

Lastly, I wanted to repaint the swing arm.  Can anyone suggest the silver color to use?

Thanks

Thanks for the info. Mike.  I will probably pick up a couple.

By the way, what is the seat heat on your dog?   It looks like it is as big as any of your triples.

;D
