Turning Wrenches / New aftermarket RZ cases coming
November 16, 2022, 12:56:46 PM
Looks like TDR and CP industries are working on aftermarket cases with a bit more meat and shift fork windows.
New oem banshee cases are still available, but the more aftermarket parts made the better.

The 4-Stroke Blasphemy Forum / Carnage

Recently bought this GS1150 with a grenaded motor for parts. PO thought a piston had melted, but I opened it up to find this.
Oil rings completely gone and both compression rings still there. The liner is badly gouged and looks to have lost quite a bit of metal.
Im not really having much luck getting a decent answer to what happened.
Other pistons do not have much carbon , so Im thinking the high compression pistons do not have much run time on them and the oil rings failed and caused this. Maybe the ring spreader was installed with ends overlapping?

On a side note, this shows just how strong forged pistons really are. That thing has taken a beating and is still in one piece.

Turning Wrenches / RZ Banshee shift shaft fail
July 13, 2022, 11:54:26 PM
Riding home from work end of last month, the day before a long weekend here, I got stuck in 5 gear about 15 min ride from home. Made for a really fun ride, but some careful route planning got me home without having to stop. Pissed off a few cars on the process.

The end of my shift shaft that engages the shift star had popped off and jammed .

I have never checked a shift shaft before for anything other than grooving where the seal runs, but the but the end that moves the shift star was very wobbly at the rivet and the little spring felt weak.

Took way longer than expected for Partzilla to ship the parts. Not sure whats up there, but I think it is my last order there.

New shift shaft has no play and the spring felt stronger. Put it all back together and its shifting smooth and I can actually find neutral standing still in gear with the clutch pulled in.

General Chatter / Bike Bandit Bancrupsy

So it looks like Bike Bandit went bankrupt in January and just kept on taking orders on their site until recently with no intention of ever shipping anything.
If it isnt difficult enough to buy parts these days, now people have to deal with this.
Sux for anybody who placed an order

Covid testing requirements at the US / Canada border end in a few days so crossing the border will no longer be a pain / expense. Now I can start getting parts shipped to my parcel place just over the border.
2 or 3 days shipping time instead of two or three  or maybe 5 weeks. And FREE shipping. Hello Beautiful.
Also the added bonus of much cheaper gas which leaves more money for parts.

General Chatter / Paypal taxes
March 21, 2022, 02:16:16 PM
I've been buying stuff off various facebook groups for years now and never had any issues. Bike specific groups are a great way to find specific hard to find old bits or performance parts. But now with the new tax reporting rules for paypal and other payment processors everybody wants payment friends and family.  No way am I sending hundreds of dollars to some random dude in the hopes he actually follows through with the sale.  Looks it like its back to Ebay again.   :rant-1:
