Yamaha is now reportedly pursuing adding a satellite team, something they desperately need to keep pace with other brands. There's just not enough data collected and shared with only 2 bikes on the grid.

Latest rumor is that Pramac is considering a switch to Yamaha. VR46 has already turned down Yamaha.

spare set of cyls back from the shop being bored to freshen up the top end .. one on it has a slight tick that might be? piston slap. 38.5mm bore of fury.

I had a hell of a time finding a shop that could go under 40mm.

Today I made it out for my annual Earth Day 2-stroke ride. Met a friend for breakfast in Newport Beach and then rode through Huntington Beach and Seal Beach. It was a little cool and foggy with some drizzle.

And a few seconds later, holy smokes, they moved Julians bike just left of center in a really cool spot. I was thrilled to see it out of the previous spot. Sent Julain a text right away.

After that excitement wore off and a few seconds more walking, holy smokes again, they moved the 500 front and center about 50 feet into the building. Yes, I was elated.

Also, what are your thoughts on the Liberty Media acquisition?

Seemed to be pretty good crowds this year, maybe slightly larger than the past few years.

Not sure the Liberty Media takeover is such a good thing but we'll see. They claim that they're not going to change things. I doubt that's the truth. I don't follow F1 but from news feeds I see it sure sounds like a media and political circus instead of a racing series.

In the Moto 3 race something happened that I don't remember ever seeing before. A racer trying to take somebody else's bike.

That was hilarious. Ortola thought he was still riding for Level Up, his team from last year.

Wow that's a lot of ratchet straps! A unique and very useful gift.

.... do those have that plastic housing that runs up the side of the carb body? can't see it on the pic. they are NOTORIOUS for warping and leaking air.  would be on the opposite side of the cable wheel. there was a TTR225 i worked on years ago that had one that would leak like just enough to completely fuck the idle and transition circuit. IF i remember correctly, has an o-ring at either end and it screws to the side of the carb body.

Yes, it has the air cut-off valve on the side. The TTR225 and XT225 share a lot of parts including the carb. The cut-off cover was replaced with a brand new one because it had a crack in it. (The O-ring, diaphragm, and spring were reused.)


When I was installing it, I was thinking that it would be an easy spot to develop a leak because of the design. Who knows, maybe I got a cover that doesn't fit well?
I'm planning a trip to Sudco to get some Mikuni parts, so I'll just add that O-ring to the list.
And when I get the bike out to do my leak testing I'll check that cover too.
