A gift from my dear friend Karl Jones. Hadn't run in at least 5 years. M in SC  helped me crank it at the Gap and covered Jack from Cycle Drags in a cloud of smoke during the video..

Today I got the disassembly done for the new Darth and Steve oil lines install on the Phoenix Project. Joe Byrd was kind enough to set the lines up for me and install the new check valves and springs. I had to reclock the #2 line and inadvertently unscrewed the banjo fitting. I carefully reassembled it and all is well.
Beautiful craftsmanship

Loosely installed

I will tighten everything and then prime and leak check the system with my drill next chance I get to work on it.
The fit appears to be perfect.

Show Off / New to Me 3 rail bike trailer
October 24, 2021, 12:40:28 AM

I have been looking for one for years to be able to haul all 3 bikes to the Gap and spied this trailer on the Henrico, VA Craigslist. I couldn't pass it up. A couple in thier 80s had it since 2010. They bought it from the original owner/ fabricator and used it to trailer thier BMWs around. They said it has never sat outside. They sold the bikes due to health reasons. Very nice people. They gave me an excellent deal on it and a bunch of free loot as well including a box full  of tie down straps, a  spare that has never been used, another box full of tricklechargers for bikes, two nice loading ramps and a grease gun and grease for the bearing buddies in the hubs. I had to change the 4 wire plug on the harness in thier driveway as they had the male female plugs opposite from my truck. One tail light didn't work and the lady of the house got her Phillips screwdriver and put in a new bulb while I was hooking it up. It is titled as a utility trailer. I towed it home at 70 MPH plus for the 100 mile trip with no problems. The tires have a 2002 date stamp on them and some small weather cracks starting so they will be replaced.

I am still learning how to use it. I bought a windsock, which is basically a little foam box cut so you can stuff the camera inside it and still reach the buttons and see the rear screen. It really helps with the wind noise.I bought it used on eBay and am well pleased with it. It can shoot all the way to 4K but my computer struggles with 2K so 1080 it is.

After the voltage regulator change I was still experiencing intermittent operation of the turn signals. Blip the throttle and they would work. The next intersection it was a 50/50 that they would work again. I cleaned the contacts and put a dab of dielectric grease on the LH switch contacts and again thought I had solved it. Then I changed out the switch with a nearly NOS switch I bought off EBay for $20 and took loose, cleaned and checked all the connections coming from the switch and was ready to take all 4 turn signals off and stomp them after I put everything back together and no LH turn signals at all. ( I assume that is why the eBay vendor sold it for $20) So I changed the switch back to my previously cleaned and greased switch and still experienced intermittent operation. Next I pulled the gas tank and noted both of the flasher connectors that I had cannibalized from a Ford F250 parts truck were loose and contacting the RH throttle cable lower moving said wires every time the throttle is moved. The turn signal flasher is a no load from NAPA installed per another turn signal thread here and it is less than 6 months old.
That's what I get for using Ford parts on a Yamaha. I replaced the Ford connectors with some Harbor Freight made in China connectors and routed the wiring so it doesn't touch the throttle cables and cranked it up. Everything worked perfect. Reinstalled the headlight bucket that I took one side loose on to access the wiring and gave it one last check and the LH rear turn signal was inop.  :bang:  I verified the bulb and ground were good by unhooking the LH rear turn signal green wire and powering it up direct from the battery. Then I verified no power in the green feed wire coming through the harness from up front. I did however have power going into the 4 way connector that feeds said green wire. I went to my 74 RD parts bike and cut the same 4 way connector out of that harness and installed it on the 75 and all the signals work now. I put the gas tank back on. Fired and ran on the 1st kick and all the lights work. I even have good turn signal operation at idle now which I have never had. Thanks to M in SC for telling me to check the flasher and Frank B for the help.

Turning Wrenches / VR 166 voltage regulator install
June 11, 2021, 08:27:13 PM

Thanks M in SC and Frank B for the guidance and M in SC for putting up the diagram. All that's left is put the battery back in and it will be ready to test. $20 for the regulator from NAPA. About $10 in connectors and heat shrink from Harbor Freight.

I learned an important lesson at Deals Gap. Lubricity does in fact go away in fork oil or in my case, Ford Type F ATF. The forks were purchased on Ebay just before the build in late 2013 as the factory front fork tubes were past saving so I bought a used set for $100 and installed new seals and serviced them. After a ride at the Gap I kept hearing a squeak every time the forks compressed. M in SC came to my rescue again and told me to change the fork oil. Luckily my friend Jay Davidson had a quart of PJ1 10 weight fork oil. We drained and serviced it in the parking lot and lo and behold the squeak was gone and handling was much improved. Bottom line is: fork oil needs changing once in a while.

Test Ride complete RD 350. No issues ran good.
60 MPH wind gusts here. I got 15 miles in during a lull.
Didn't want to chance it on the RZ with new tire. It will get done tomorrow. GMC pickup serviced and ready.
