+1, theres usually alot more work than expected but when its really done, they run as good as they ever did if not better.  If not you, who else would ever grease the head bearings before the bike was discarded:)

I find it nice that the old switchgear is a bit chunkier and it seems easier to make parts for and work on.  Then again, modernish stuff isnt usually broken although I've seen a fair amount of kill switches that needed attention especially on things that sat outside.

First engine I ever opened was an xr250 super siezed from running without oil.  Did the piston, torch required, had to do some cam bearings, cleaned up the cams with an angle grinder.  Ticked like crazy, I assume we set the valves but who knows.

Was a first kicker hot or cold as long as you started at the right position. Smoked like a two stroke but actually didnt burn that much.  Had a bald tire that I ran til I got a flat because the thing was like a tractor going up hills compared to a two stroke.

Was a super good bike for putting around/general woods riding and could be ridden fast but the suspension was questionable at speed.

Its not a two stroke but it should be a good appliance.  It seems most older hondas run forever as long as there is some kind of oil in them.

I know more than one person that figures if its leaking oil, it has oil, which is much better than no oil :gentleman:

There was a mostly stock looking and at least above fair appearance H1 on a trailer for 5k this weekend at the BSA meet.  Did not investigate but pipes were not attached so I assume it was not running or at least not running well.  I dont feel the need to get involved with them, a buddy has an S2 that I get to ride from time to time and thats good enough.

I do not believe it sold but turnout was a bit light because of the weather and its a British event so its mostly four strokes aside from the modern trials bikes and some pit bikes.

There was a Vincent Black Prince in attendance that was ridden a bit, had never seen one before.  Not the prettiest thing IMHO but was super clean and ran well.

Started up a very long sleeping 6%(16:1) 150cc premix single machine last year on Blendzall and Avgas, ran well, smelled good.

Drained and tried the Pennzoil multipurpose/outdoor green label and the idle was significantly higher with the same carb settings, thought wtf and threw the original stuff in and sure enough, idle was lower.  Ran well, did not smell as good:)

Slowly walked it down to 4%(25:1), its easy to drain/refuel, and exhibited similar behavior. 6% was pretty messy especially with the castor and they are commonly run at 3% with modern oils.

Used gallons of purple Sea and Snow but was never all that impressed with it aside from it being easy to tell it was mixed and years ago ran gallons of the old tcw3 walmart oil at 25:1 in lots of 250cc dirtbikes, dont think I've ever had a solely oil related problem aside from losing an injector line on the RD350.

Quite a few years back I used the weedeater as a test bed and pretty much everything ran good including some nasty used engine oil and ATF, except actual vegetable oil, motor got hot quickly and was way down on power.  Smelled like french fries though.  Motor still fine years later although I do tend to mix at 33 or 25 and drain it and finish the year on Avgas or E0.  Have never had to clean the exhaust screen assuming it has one, last time I turned a mixture screw on it was probably during the testing.

YMMV and all that, make sure you at least use some thing that resembles oil.  I'm sure there are differences and some of these motors are hard to replace so use what you are comfortable with.

Process seems to be working fine at this time, waiting for the sticker and papers but did get get the plate. Everything was returned once because I missed 2 boxes, they were highlighted IIRC, filled em in and sent it back.

Happy they sent me a copy of the paperwork so that I do it correctly if there is a next time.

Not a fan personally, but I've spent some time at the track with these guys and they are solid for sure, pretty fast too.

Since they've never been on my radar, I was suprised what they go for, just didnt know they were that popular.

Yeah, I'd take that all day if it was running cleanly.  Would probably do the airscrew first for a while and then try the needle if I really needed more, both/either are pretty easy to do.

+1, get after it and I'm pretty sure that drain bamage is standard around here:)

Dunno bout basket case, looks like most things are there.  Depends on where you intend to ride it for how close it needs to be near street legal. IIRC YZ motors buzz like crazy in these things and dont have a lighting coil.

That being said, I dont see a pipe anywhere so I'm callin BS on easy to get going.  Id still prob buy it if it was local, I have an extra 350 motor lying around now....

When you first get it going, dont forget that what seems to be a jetting issue can be electrical or an airleak

Yes dead cell in battery and I'd also be certain that the diodes and regulator are working properly.  Either one acting up is no bueno for batteries, the regulator is probably worse for the headlights.

Dead regulators is what kills the lithium batteries and occasionally sets them on fire.

Big bunnies indeed.  Theres usually quite a few of em at the county fair if you want to see em live.  I assume they have a class for competition.

The Barnesville pumpkin festival has some insane sized melons of all types if thats your thing. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barnesville_Pumpkin_Festival

Pretty decent riding nearby too IIRC

I can get behind a two stroke chopper, better than alot of stuff you see these days :cheerleader:

IIRC the engine cares about cross section and length primarily, direction doesnt matter much so you should be fine.

My Kdx250 was almost like a four stroke to ride in the woods, not peaky and good midrange, I assume heavy flywheel and conservative porting.  Would rip if you stayed in it but easier to ride slow than an MX.  I havent been on a Dt250 in a while but I'd guess its similar so I think its going to be a good choice.
