Turning Wrenches / Re: Another coil question

You can measure the primary winding resistance in your old coils and compare it to the auto ones. Test across the 2 small wires coming out of the coil. I think the oem ones should be about 3-4 ohms and if the auto ones are close to that it should be ok. If the auto coils are only 1 ohm they may get too warm and a ballast resistor will fix that, like what is on the RD400.

Turning Wrenches / Re: Looking for Shock Treatmen...

i'll be honest, looks a lot like the TZR shock which i replaced with an r1 unit. i just swapped out the stock spring on the tzr shock onto the r1 body and it worked great. not sure if that's an option here, i did try to look up what that shock crossed to, and any info, didn't see anything. Im sure yss makes something what will work but no idea what.

Yes,
My original '77 back in the day was a D model.
In Canada, the E's arrived the tail end of '77.

Spent the winter restoring a 1977 RD400E.
Still some carb work to do, but otherwise ready to roll.
Brings back sweet memories from my late teens when I bought my first new bike, a 1977 RD400D.

Next time you pass thru Williams, stop here for lunch.  Great old-school Italian deli.

Quote from: SoCal250 on April 06, 2024, 03:54:57 PMYamaha is now reportedly pursuing adding a satellite team, something they desperately need to keep pace with other brands. There's just not enough data collected and shared with only 2 bikes on the grid.
Latest rumor is that Pramac is considering a switch to Yamaha. VR46 has already turned down Yamaha.
