There are a lot of people out there who 100% believe that those thinks add ridiculous horsepower and nothing will change their minds.

m in sc

same people that read that article saying DG pipes added 13 hp.  :tung2-1:

Apparently there was some issue with the first sale of the pair in Michigan. They were relisted at $1100 Buy It Now and sold again on Aug 28.

I've always heard that the original DG heads were made from heat sink extrusions for power switchgear and were basically pure aluminum. People said they have porosity issues. I had a gold set on my blue '77 RD400 back in the 80's. They did not make it faster but they looked pretty good. I recall that a pair of heads was cheaper than a set of chambers from DG. Less than $50 each when I was making $200 a week. Chambers were around $150 the set so I didn't have any.

I think the modern reproductions are better quality and look like they are CNC'd from billet but I dunno... HVC bought the rights from Ottoco so maybe the materials are the same. Certainly the anodizing is better now and the finish seems smoother. The finish details on the DG's I had weren't great. Sharp edges that would cut your fingers changing plugs and small dings in the metal that weren't visible from a few feet away. Things you would get from having the blanks cut by a stoned teenager with a chop saw in 1979 Anaheim, CA.

People called DG heads and others "Porcupine" heads back then. These FMF Elsinore heads look more porcupine than the radials.
