1977 Yamaha RD400 NR - Mecum - Monterey, CA

I was going through the lots for the upcoming Mecum Monterey auction and this one caught my eye because it's the wrong color for the year, but the frame number is for a '77.   A D-model in C-model clothing.
The mileage on the odometer is low but it doesn't jive with what the brake discs show (or the rear caliper is dragging). Someone added upgraded intake manifolds with a cross-over and the cylinders appear freshly painted. Maybe it should include the word "restored" in the description? Strange, because if it was restored you would think they would have fixed the seat.
It also appears to have been dropped on the right side (muffler is scratched).
That auction estimate is pretty optimistic too!
