I was hesitating on VB'ing my carbs, as not wanting the glass beads to plug any of the air passageways.
Has anyone done this before?

ive had plenty done. just spray thru them w carb or brake cleaner before assembling them.

the foreground ones are for the t500. back ones are some vm34s that were done 3? years prior for the lc hybrid.

the finish holds up very well i might add. the 34s were on the bike for well over 2 years before i put the TM's on.

ive had heads and other parts done as well.

Taking a bunch of stuff to blaster tomorrow. Curious did you mask the carbs at all?

m in sc

i stripped them down. thats it.

liek said, just spray thru everything. I like using brake cleaner. when done, my last step is to basically hose them down with wd40 and wipe them down.

Just watched a thing on dry ice blasting.
Looks pretty good. Not sure how it would leave the finish on aluminum.

it's pretty fantastic. we sell equipment to the 2 of the largest mfgs of dry ice blasting machines.  But, not cheap.

I converted my old HF blast cabinet to a water/vapor blaster this year. I tested several media grit on RD cases and carbs. Like has been said, came out well, I just cleaned very well, and gave them some time in ultrasonic cleaner. Just an fyi, cost me about maybe 250 to convert my cabinet, and parts come very close to the much higher dollar cabinets currently available.

Yeah, I always follow up with ultrasonic on carbs. It, at a minimum, is great peace of mind that everything is clean as can be when going together.
