I bought some Bel-Ray SL-2 semi-synthetic injection oil for my bike which I plan to pour into the oil tank after I measure the oil pump stroke, etc. and drain the 1/2 qt. of unknown oil that's in the tank and lines now.

Do you recommend any quality injection oil which might be available to me locally? otherwise I can order some online like I did with the Bel-Ray.

Edit: been reading 'Oh God,an oil thread'

honda GN2 is what i will typically run, but anything modern is good. the quicksilver stuff sold at wal-mart  and other places like bass pro shops, etc...  is also very good.

I discovered the Klotz in 1972 when I had a 1972 Yamaha LT-2 100MX. There is a warning on the bottle it can't be mixed with traditional petroleum-based oils. This required a complete purge of the Autolube system from tank all the way down the line and through the pump and bleeding the system after Klotz added. Sure did smell good out on the trail and tracks we rode! Plug was always clean and virtually no carbon buildup on piston :burnout:

The GN2,is that synthetic ? Honda dealers only ?
I remember someone saying(decades ago)about the 'new synthetics' and how they had less ash in them.
I always ran the factory Yamaha injection oil(dark green)Yamalube, which I think was standard non-synthetic and I liked it,as it didn't smoke too much, etc;I used to live just down the street from Libby's Cycle center on Printer's La. in New Haven,Ct. and the last RD I had was in 1987'.
I got to know the service manager a bit in 75' after I got my first 73' RD350,before he moved up to Maine to sell sporting goods;I rode my bike up to his house in Guilford,Ct. a few times to get some work done and he showed me a small bottle of premix that he used in his own custom(premix)RD350 plus told me "Don't use the cheap outboard motor oil in your injection tank because it will carbon-up your rings fast".
I'm hoping to find an oil that's real clean burning(possible to find it in a local/near to me store,or on a road-trip?)to run in the oil tank which will flow good, even when it's cold(like the Yamalube),but not build-up much carbon plus lubricate excellent;it'll keep me from needing to clean the pistons/rings too often.
Maybe they've improved 2-stroke outboard motor oil which is available in a big-box store that's high quality and even recommended by some top tuners?
I want to decide on a good oil, then stick with it and run it year-round.

Do they sell the 2S by the qt. how much per qt. ?

I looked at the listings on Google;does your dealer charge $20 per qt. ?

Grew up in San Diego in 1970's and we had many shops and Klotz could be found on shelf locally. I started using it for premix on VMX bikes in 2000s and had to find on-line. Rocky ATV usually had it- but in gallon size. Don't buy the Techniplate blend that has Castor (bean oil) in it for injector use.

FWIW: the Klotz is very expensive comparatively

The price seems to have gone up. Last week dealer price was $13.35 a quart.

the gn2 mixes with everything, I've also run the motul, it smells awesome. Just pick something readily available and run with it. I have a hobda dealer close by, oli order it by the cases, but it's also the cleanest oil over ever run as far as deposits.

I checked w/ my local O'Reillys out here, and they can get Lucas 2-cycle semi-synthetic oil in the gallon jug for less than $40.

Have any of you used it in yours ?
