in cleaning mode. pipes were full of oil, presumably from 50 years of seepage thru oil pump check valves.  drained thrm by sitting upright in a bucket w baffles out. had to dig out original packing, replaced w fresh stuff cut to size and wired back in. only thing ar this point I've used to clean pipes outside was wd40 and a soft brush. I sprayed the inside with brake clean and let it drain and dry out. baffles were set in carb dip.

so have been doing all the service stuff. replaced shocks, seals in forks, and got new tires.. pulling the rear wheel, I think I found out why it had low mileage. the rear tube was replaced at some point.  aaand.. the left wheel rear spacer that the bearings ride on... was missing.  :dead:  this explains why it was so loose in the back end. luckily, it crosse with a few bikes and I found one on ebay. I'm sure the original wound up, in a mason jar of hardware in a basement somewhere in Ohio in the early 70s. 🤣  so everything else is ready and serviced and tuned. Just waiting on that last bit to show up.

thanks. shes itching to ride it. I did little bit of cleanup. the petcock leaked fuel (prior) all over the lh engine cover. the badge on the points cover was also scratched up. so took all off, cleaned, and painted to match, new badge from yambits.  also..  axle spacer arrived and the plate is on. put on new levers, the ends were broken off the old ones. new battery strap, high beam bulb, etc. :whoop: need to get that spacer installed tonight then it's ready.   there  was an unreal amount of long oily grass packed into the chain cover,  so this def did some off road time. lol

honestly this thing was in such nice shape to start off with it's not really a challenge of any kind, but it's def fun
