I have a 72 r5 frame and a 74 rd complete front end with disc brake. I want to install the rd front end into the r5 frame. I think i need to use the rd upper and lower fork yokes because the r5 yoke is to narrow. I think the only issue is the r5 speedo and tach gauge bracket does not match up/ bolt on to the upper rd yoke. How have others delt with this issue and are their other incompatibility issues with fitting rd forks in and r5 frame that are overlooked? I am planing on using the all balls tappered roller bearings. Also searched the forum and didn't find answers.
Thanks!

its not a fun mod but I did it w my 72. made a bracket out of sheet aluminum to use the stock r5 gauge mount and key mount on an rd tree. I swapped out the original gsuged w aftermarket ones eventually but they mount on the r5 bracket. I don't think I have any pics of the bracket I made itself though.

Thanks! I was curious about the "chrome" cans but really like the look of the faces. Modernized "retro" at it's finest. I'm keeping 3 air-cooled RDs and have barely enough stock gauges/panels for them- and that's before even trying them on the bikes. Only my 73 250 is staying stock and these aftermarkets are appealing for the 350 & 400.

I have the same series gauges on my t500 as well.  they have been great. they come black, on the t500 I used wrinkle paint. the rubber rings around the bezel are stock r5 ones just fyi.

M in SC,
In your pictures I noticed you have the r5 stock steering damper on the rd forks. I didn't realize you could make that work on rd forks. Can you elaborate on that? Specifics, tips,  more pictures. Was it fairly straight forward?

you need to use the r5 top yolk nut, and drill and tap a hole in the lower rd tree. m8. there happens to be a boss already there so its easy.    thats it. I also tried to get an under shot of the gauge mount plate.

That is outstanding.  Very helpful. Thanks!
