So on Facebook a fellow poster this pic and ask what is was for.
Yds7 bike.
The comments following indicated maybe a running light and on overseas bikes.
Anyone have like this or seen one?

back in my youth that would have been a tail light kill switch.

If it is a running light switch. Why?.
I mean it seems useless to me.

a lot of bikes used 'city lights' , ie, running light so you could run w the headlight off, particularly in the UK. My T500 has one. no separate switch though.

I'm not a fan of that.

well, with as weak as the charging systems were at the time and no headlight law, it made sense.

I have a yellow led bulb in the T500 for the 'city' light. I dig it. when i pull up to a bike night or something i'll kill the headlight as not to blind anyone, gives a nice look IMHO. washes out when the HL is on. good for warming up as well and not dropping voltage at idle on bikes with stock alternators too.

Ok I can dig that.
I was thinking more along current safety norms.
I guess I could have thought that better.

Looks very add-on aftermarket to me.  Easiest thing to do is pull the headlight and see what color wires go to it.  DS7/R5 wiring is super minimal and easy.

On the wiring diagram, the "Right Switch" is mislabeled.  It should be Left Switch.  DS7/R5 don't have a Right Switch.

So I got one of these headlites last year for the Daytona.

It has the replaceable bulb, in which I put in an LED one.
search forum for this thread.

This headlite had the other hole for that small lite.
That switch may be to turn this light on & off.

But as said above, it could just stay on at all times, as the headlite drowns it off.
