Just wondering at what stage in a build would you benefit from ported stock reed cages. I've got the basic y boot with cross over tube and Dave f carb mod. Would I need port work to justify doing this?

I'm in the process of modding my TDR250 reed cages and installing carbonfiber reeds.

Mainly because there aren't any aftermarket reed blocks available for the 1KT motor.

Probably doesn't hep much but that's all I got.

Use the YZ125 oem reeds for stock RD's and bolt on's like with chambers and air cleaner upgrades.

When modifying to stg 1 go with the TDR #34 single petals and then port out the center bridge for more mean area flow through the cage.

Stg 2, grind out reed track larger with a set of TSR reed spacers to upgrade to YZ85 reed cages or better yet go all out to the YZ85 V-Force carbon 8 petal cages.

Always port inlet of the cages when using upgraded intake manifolds. I even port the stock manifolds with a cartridge roll!
