modding a luggage rack for quick removal.

did this for the R5. i don't always run the rack but i hated pulling the tail light wiring to do so. so, i modified by cutting about 50mm out from in between the rail and plugging the holes. then slotted the shock bolt mount hole. Now i can just undo the j-hooks, loosen the 2  shock nuts, slide the rack back, then up, forward and out. then tighten the shock nuts back up and done.  yes the r5 is a tiny bit crusty when zoomed in.

So the back side under the tail light bracket just rests on the grab rail?

They are clamped to the rail with 2 j-hooks, those are still there. (see 4th pic) i just took out  a section of it between the mounting points and added caps to close the tube.  Unless you are putting some ridiculous amount of weight on there, its fine.

Great work, well done. I was thinking of building something similar for my 400.
