I have done the search and can't find anything. Need some help from a knowledgeable person. I'm not doing a dual disk swap I just found a steal on a wheel locally that's an XS hub with Buchanan spikes and an excel rim..  It's seams to only be a bit off except I can't get the brake side spacer in just the speedo drive..

Any one have experience doing this or should I just go get the rd hub laced?

Thanks

I've got an earlier XS650/XS1 drum on my R5. Not sure how similar they are but it was pretty straightforward. I think the R5 has a more narrow axle than the RD.

Sorry it's disk brake hub forgot to say that..

I have no idea about the drums..

IIRC, the dual disc xs hub is around 10mm wider than a rd hub.   I did a dual disc swap, had the hub laying around and figured it would work.  Found out later it would not work for my needs and had to find the tx500 hub.

I would say if you are planning on using the stock rd spacers and speedo drive the hub isn't going to work for you with the stock triple tree width.  You could probably make the hub work with either different triple clamps, or custom spacers but the rim will have to be laced out of center from the hub.

Still biking

I have a stock triple tree for a 650 I can sell.  pm me if interested.

If considering the TX500 option I noticed a ton of single disc TX wheels are available out there but the duals are comparatively rare.

As far as I can tell the TX500 hubs (single disc Vs. dual) are the same and have a removable cover over the flange for the second disc.

So if you have complete forks for the TX and a single disc hub. Do the RD disc rotors fit the TX hub?

So if they do what you would need to convert an RD 350 is the forks and hub from the TX500 plus 1 caliper, brake lines, and the original disc and caliper from your RD? Maybe a bigger MC...

TX500 brake rotor & carrier is the same part as RD350/RD400

Here's the conversion info from the old site that I saved in my notes.

This applies to TX500 hub, not the XS650

Thread is getting a little off topic, but yes.  Take what you have and get the rd hub laced in.  Whoever does it just need to keep an eye on the spokes when doing it.  It will probably be ok but spoke angle in the rim may need to be touched up a little because of the hub width difference.

FWIW, I originally had the rims drilled for the xs hub as I didn't see the difference yet and thought I could use it.  I didn't have to touch the rims for the narrower TX hub(same width as RD)

Disclaimer: all the info I gave was based on the xs hub I have which was a dual disc, early???? Xs650 hub.  IIRC, there is a few different spoked hubs for the XS, I don't know if the one you have is the same as what I have.
